Q for alts that transmute while leveling
If you consistently clear all the maps you’ll end up with a lot of transmutation stones, that’s all I can say since I don’t really catch your meaning. ><
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Let’s say your alt is level 35. Every 10 levels you destroy (not salvage or vendor) your current equipment, and buy new more expensive replacements.
How poor will you be when you reach 80? Provided that you progress normally through PvE . (I.e. no grinding/farming/playing the TP/etc.)

I level via Dungeons, bit of Story and some map completions, I’ve found that you easily have enough cash to buy every 10 levels no issues, Masterworks cost very little from the auction house. By the time your hitting level 60 you find you have quite a bit more money coming in than going out, and if you use tokens you have gained leveling for Armor you can have a fairly good setup out the gate just with the money the toon makes, especially if you complete Malchor leap and Cursed shore when your leveling your last 10 levels.
Lindbur already answered you: assuming you level through PvE, and complete each zone before moving on to the next zone, it is basically impossible to run out of Basic Transmutation Stones. You get 3 for every zone you complete. You also get 3 for exploring the 6 city zones. Let’s be conservative and say that it takes you only 12 zones to hit level 80. 12 zones plus 6 cities = 18 zone completions, times 3 stones per zone = 54 stones. Worst case, you transmute 6 pieces of armor and 5 weapons every 6 levels, that’s enough for 11 transmutations without even passing along any stones from alts or buying any or creating alts just to run them quickly through the cities for another free 18 stones each.
In practice, only one of my characters was I picky enough about to transmute every weapon and every costume piece every time I re-geared. In practice, I was reasonably happy with the crafted armor about half of the time, and was only picky about the weapons. The characters that you only transmute weapons on, or only armor, will have stones left over for the ones you’re feeling super-picky about.
Now, Fine Transmutation Stones — that’s where they get you. Once you get to level 80, if you’re picky about how your character looks, you’ll probably end up having to spend $10 per character or so to keep them in level 80 transmutation stones. But until then, as long as you’re transmuting gear that’s level 79 or less, it’s basically free.
I’ve leveled 8 professions to 80, kept them in masterworks updated every 10 levels. I transmuted each time to keep the look I wanted.
I got plenty of the transmutation stones from discovering cities and completing areas. If you don’t think you will have enough, use a character space to make an alt, go thru the cities to get the stones, delete and repeat.
I funded my gear purchases by farming on my first level 80. He can easily make the necessary gold.
Completing a zone gives u either 3 Transmutation Stones OR 1 Black Lion Key.
According to wiki completing a City also can give u either 3 Transmutation Stones OR 1 Black Lion Key.
However, completing a City has always given me 3 Transmutation Stones.
Best way to get Transmutation Stones, complete all six Cities with a char.
And then with as much chars as u have.
If u have a xtra char slot u can even create a temp char to do all the Cities.
