Question About HoM & Account Linking
1. You earn your first HOM points by linking accounts. You can earn titles, unlock mini pets, and put level 20 pets and upgraded heroes into your GW1 Hall of Monuments without having linked accounts. Those titles and points will be added to your linked GW2 HoM once the two accounts are linked.
2. That depends on how often you play and how you choose to earn your points. It can take as little as a week or as long as six months (or longer). There are a few guides out there, and the GW1 reddit community is very useful for learning what to go for.
3. You stop getting actual skins and pets after 30 points. If you choose to go for 50, you’ll be just getting more titles and achievement points in GW2. Going for 50 also requires a LOT more grinding just because all of the “easier” or “faster” points will already be obtained.
Would it be worth going for 50 points?
As for question 1, I should be fine without linking accounts? Why I ask this, when I get to 30-50 points, I will probably buy the $100 HoT and start a new account and link that one, Instead linking my current account.
Before I come back to guild wars 2 again, taking a break now. I want to get 30 points at lest maybe go for 50, then if I can still buy the $100 ultimate edition for HoT, I can simply make a new account and I will then link my guild wars 1 account.

In my opining it isn’t, you just get a few more tittles and a few Achievement Points, not worth the time.

You’ll be fine.
You can work on your HoM points and later add it to your new account, just don’t link it to any other acc before that.
BTW, I played GW1 from 0 and no friends and took me about 350 hours to get 30/50 points, and later with help of my guild mates I reached 45/50 but then I had about 1k hours.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
1) The HoM was actually designed for people to earn points before linking their accounts. It’s original purpose was as a reward for people who had been playing GW1 for years and didn’t want to start from scratch with GW2.
People were collecting items and completing activities that earn points for years before the Hall was added, and when it was they were able to put those all in right away. They were then adding things to the Hall and earning points for years before GW2 was released and it became possible to link your accounts. You can do it the exact same way.
(Although it also works the other way around: you can continue to earn points after linking your accounts too.)
2) It’s hard to say other than it’s not quick. If you’re hoping to play a couple of hours a night for a week and walk away with 30 points you’re going to be disappointed. There are some really good guides out there for getting points efficiently but be aware it is a long process.
3) After 30 points you don’t get any more skins or items, just titles and achievement points. So it depends on whether you’re a hardcore achievement hunter or if you like those titles.
I had 37 points when GW2 came out and, without really meaning to, I pretty much stopped playing GW1. I got it up to 40 for the Flameseeker title because I liked it and I haven’t completely ruled out getting 45, but I’ll probably never get 50 because that would require getting Obsidian armour and I don’t think it’s worth the effort.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
If you love playing GW1, then getting HoM score to 50 is a kind of achievement (for which there’s no particular reward in either game, although you do get some AP in GW2). If you just want the skins and pets, stick to getting 30/50; it’s takes a lot less time.
