Q:

Dear all,

I am a returning player. I have awakened from my slumber. These past months I have been so busy at work that I don’t have the time to check what happened to the game. Last time I saw a news about GW2 is that they will have a new expansion (HoT). I think I stopped playing at around January 2015.

What major change happened with the game? I tried looking at development notes but its just too many for me to understand the core changes.

Specifically, I want to know major changes that happened in PvE and WvWvW.

Thank you!

A lot has happened in the last 1 1/2 years in the game. Read thru the notes, that is the ONLY way for you to know what you want to know. People can post their list of changes but it probably won’t have what you are looking for.

That page summarises the big changes and has links to each release that will give more details. But of course it doesn’t include everything from the patch notes.

Honestly a year and a half of updates is a lot to summarise. I doubt anyone could remember it all so it would mean one of us combing through the patch notes trying to pick out things we think would be important for you to know about.

Your best bet is probably just to log in, start playing and familiarise yourself with the game as it is now. I often find it helps when I’m coming back to a game I’ve not played in a long time to start a new character and go through the tutorial/levelling up process, or at least re-play the start to remind myself of the basics before I jump into where I left off.

In GW2 I think that would be especially helpful because the level up notifications will explain different mechanics and features as you’re going along.
