Hello all.
First, before I get to my question, here is some background. I crafted a few characters to level 80 and did not do anything with them.

Now, that being said, I want to dust them off and play them. I was going to use some of the Powerful Slaying Potions I have hanging out in my bank..when I realized I do not know if it is ok to use a Powerful Potion in an area lower than the tonic, or should I be using a tonic which is the same level as the zone I am in????

Life has taught me that if I don’t understand something, it is best to ask a question no matter how dumb, because of I don’t…OMG…the messes I can get into.

There is so much of how and why things work in this game that i don’t know….being bad at math does not help either

Anyways, thanks in advance for any answers involving which potion to use—Character Level or Zone Level.

The level of the tonic only determine the bonus and duration of the potion, and the level required to use it, like a lvl 50 character can’t use a lvl 80 potion.
You may use it at a lvl 1~15 map and still get the 10% damage bonus.

Say, did they ever fix the Slaying potions?

They did. Back when the Battle for LA happened and people said, “Hey, the Scarlet potions are making us take MORE damage from the mobs!”

And ANet hotfixed it within 24 hours. XD

It’s pretty sad how long it took for the fix. I still can’t get over it lol.
