I heard somewhere that once an item is equipped, it cannot be transmuted. Here’s an explanation of my current predicament:

I wanted to craft my first set of Exotics, so I leveled my Tailoring to 400 and started to work. I first crafted my coat, then pants then shoulder pads. After saving up for a while, I managed to just get enough to finish crafting the set by making the boots, gloves and mask.

I equipped the coat, pants and shoulders before I heard that rumor, and now I’m scared to equip the other three pieces. I would REALLY like to run Explorable SE to get the SE dungeon set and transmute the set that I crafted to look like that and keep the stats of the crafted set.

My question is this: If I equip the armor that I crafted, will I still be able to transmute it later to look like the SE set?

Hoopa doopa.

I believe they can’t be transmuted while they are equipped. Just unequip them if you want to transmute

Hopefully that’s what it is. I spent a lot of time getting the gold to craft my first set, I don’t want it to be for nothing, heh.

Can anyone confirm that?

Hoopa doopa.

If it isn’t, then that would make the purchasable armor skins in the gem store useless unless you are already at max level.

You’ll be able to transmute. As mentioned above, you just can’t transmute while the item is equipped. Just unequip it, transmute, then equip it again.
