Hi everyone!

I’m new to the game, just got 35 lvl xD There’s a Vendor in the Grove selling Gold armor, i really like how it looks but buying it would cost me all my money xD But actually i can’t figure out wether this set is good or not. Maybe i’ll have to throw it away in a couple of lvls cuz some green drop is better. (Also there are those weapons for lvl 40 that cost 10k karma…)

I’m really confused. So here comes the question: what equipment is worth buying/getting while i’m lvling to 80? Or should i just wear the things that i get from mobs and quests and not bother?

You are probably talking about the cultural sets, those armors are worth just for the skin, the stats aren’t that good and cost way more than if you bought from the TP.

I suggest to keep using masterwork armor (green ones) till around lvl 60, then get some rare armor (yellow) till you reach lvl 80.

EDIT: save the karma, those are kinda hard to get and you can buy a full set of lvl 80 exotic armor with it, but cost 440k karma

Most people don’t invest gold into equipment until level 80.

ditto: use cheap stuff until 80. you level so quickly that you won’t keep things for long enough to be worth buying good things. Once you’re at 80, then go back and decide what sort of looks you want your character to have.

If you are new I would recommend sticking to mainly equip from drops. You will also get better equips as reward when you level up, so that was one problem down. But you might want to start investing on them for wardrobe appearances only when you reached level 80, probably that’s the main reason for why it cost so much in the first place!

In short, yes for earning gold and karma, yes for level 80 character earlier so that you can get rare level 80 equips instead of lower level ones, and leave your looks aside for the time being… we all probably have this experiences too when we just started ourselves.

If you can find them, berserker stats and blue items are your best friend while leveling. You may want to throw a little extra money toward weapons from time to time. Level 35 is around the time the fun looking armor starts to show up, but inflation right now is going to hurt your purse big time.
Usually I’ll buy armor at level 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 28, 35, 45, 48, 52, 55, 60, 62, 70, and 70. By level 80 I usually have about 20 gold saved up in the bank from crafting materials I sell off. Depending on inflation that may be about 40 gold in value right now. You’ll spend as much getting gold and exotic gear at that point, but for right now be ultra cheap with your gear. You’ll get a few good items from leveling now as well.

If you really like the look go ahead and buy them. The gear will last for quite a few levels then simply sell them to a merchant to get some money back. Otherwise it’s pretty easy to use what you find or trading post what you need.

Later on that armour cost won’t be as bad of a hit to your wallet so look pretty now or wait for lvl 80 to buy then sell back for the skin and transmute it to a set of exotic armour.
