So i’m starting to do FotM alot and need some insight on the ascended gear, most notably the infusions. Now I know there’s an item in the FotM vendor that give agony resistance, and from my understanding i’m gonna need quite abit of it to survive FotM 10+. But I wanted to ask what’s the point of these:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion

I mean you’re sacrificing quite abit of materials for ‘5’ of a certain stat. Is it even worth it when I can just purchase the the +5 resist item from the shop? Or am I missing something? Or is it one of those ‘’even though it’s a small stat boost, it’ll still increase your stats, but for a hefty price to get that ‘end game feel’’

Thanks

If you want to progress in fotm and don’t want to farm for the better infusion recipes, then just grab the 75 relic ones in the store.

That’s exactly what I’m asking, what’s the point of the better infusions? Since they only give +5 stats, I mean if it was like, +50 then maybe I’d consider it. But since the simple infusion gives you +5 AR already, seems abit off to spend a whole bunch of mats on the +5 stat +5 AR infusions

You need more AR per tier. 15 for T2, 25 for T3, etc

Yes you do but the question raised is whether there’s a real reason to craft an Infusion such as a Healing Infusion for example instead of spending some relics on a Simple Infusion. One’s costly to make and the other can be easily brought with materials earned through completing the lower level FOTM content and the only real difference is a small stat increase that doesn’t affect AR.
Aside from some edge cases there’s not much reason to chose a crafted infusion over a bought one at the moment. Honestly I think if you personally can’t think of a reason why you’d need the fancy one yourself then you probably don’t need it at all for the time being. Just buy the ones from the Golem OP, they’ll likely do you quite fine for now.

You can’t get 10 AR on backpiece without converting/crafting it into an infused piece, and that is really expensive no matter what. The rings can be upgraded though for very cheap.

To answer you question.

No. If you aren’t a completionist who wants the 15 extra points in whatever stat, then no. It’s easier just buying the 75 relic one in fotm.

The cheaper infusions are all you need to do high level fractals.
The expensive infusions add a bit of stats. They are super expensive because those are extra stats you can’t get anywhere else. Similar to: why use lvl 80 gear when lvl 79 gear is pretty much just as good?

Thanks very much for the info guys! I appreciate it. So what’s the most AR you can get? 5 infused backpiece w/5 AR infusion ~ 2x 5 infused rings w/5 AR infusions. So that’s like +30AR total right? Oh and a huge question, are the quivers worth it? I was contemplating on making the endless quiver so I’d have some AR resistance when I hit level 10 :o

Yes, 30 AR is the max currently until they release more ascended gear.

Depends, if you like a quiver or not. I didn’t want to get the mats for it and found making the ascended capacitor a lot more easier due to my constant fotm runs. Plus the capacitor is shiny if you upgrade it to its 3rd level.

Ahh gotcha, and btw the offensive/defensive infusion slots are only for those crafted infusions right? I can still use the generic AR item in the golem slot regardless of the type of slot?

If you craft the basic infusions, they will have a specific def/offense indication which can only be placed on def/offense accordingly.

The one from the golem is versatile which can be put on either def/offensive slots so yes it can be used on any ascended item.

Edit: there are craftable versatile infusions as well but cost a lot more to make.
