Guild Wars 2

Im new to guild wars, 7 year WoW player, im looking to upgrade my gear since im about to hit level 20 and still using gear lvl 10 or lower, i wanted to buy some masterwork items but they appear red when i hover over them, im assuming i need to do something in order to use these items, can anyone explain how i can use these items.

I just noticed that some masterwork items are not red and some are, let me be more specific, i wanna buy a 2handed masterwork staff im currently use a staff yet it shows masterwork staff in red? i dont understand why i cant use it?

For a lvl 20 weapon to appear not red to you, you need to be lvl 20 and of a profession that can equip the weapon. Same with armor…

Ty for the responce, ya i figured about the level obviously, but the “Staff” was red too almost like i couldn’t equip staffs which didnt make since because im an elemenlist using a staff, but ya once i hit 20 the staff was usable, still was confusing because like i said it was making it look as though i couldn’t equip a staff.

On Fine gear the “staff” name was not red only the required level was, but it was different for masterwork thats what threw me off.
