Hello community,

I started playing GW2 actively last year, but had stopped playing for about six months and returned recently. I am now noticing something that I think is new (?):

Any skill or trait used that increases movement speed by 25% or 33% (with the exception of the Revenant’s “Impossible Odds” skill) stops working as soon as my characters become targetted and attacked by hostiles.

I have been keeping an eye on this for a couple of weeks, playing all nine professions, to see whether maybe it was the enemy using attacks that would slow me down, but no, any simple attack will cause my character to get slowed down to normal speed.

What is this? A bug? A feature? What’s the point then when, for instance, I can’t use my Necromancer’s warhorn skill to flee from danger or rush through mobs of enemies?

It still works, combat speed is slower than out of combat speed and always has been. You’ll go even slower in combat if you turn off your speed increase.

Edit for completeness:
If you want to run past enemies as fast as possible, you have 3 choices.
1) Dodge, evade, or block every attack to avoid triggering combat (and don’t passively attack them like you are with a necro warhorn [or with necro minions]). In open world PvE this is pretty trivial to do.
2) Use stealth to run past them.
3) Use movement skills such as teleports and leaps, which are not affected by movement speed.

Oops. I either must have forgotten about this during the pause I took or never noticed it before (which is rather unlikely, but then again I had only played a few months before pausing).

Okay, so it really depends on what options the profession provides. And nope, I wasn’t talking about open world PvE, I was talking about tightly packed spaces such as (using a current example here) the Mad King’s Labyrinth: it is impossible to rush through in order to get to your squad (you either have to fight your way through, wait until they come your direction and join, or use certain professions with abilities you mentioned).

Alright, thanks a lot.
