Hi all!

I found an incredibly awesome-looking sword skin, which I now intend to use on my mesmer.

However, I have the habit of losing interest in a class after a while (haven’t played mesmer in a long time because of this). Thus I am wondering if the trick with transmuting still works.

Transmuting a soulbound skin onto a non-soulbound skin made the item account bound again, readily available for any other chatacter (of the same armor class) to use.

Anybody recently tried this?

Yes this still work. Keep in mind the non soulbound sword has to be white (common-quality) and a drop or be crafted. (so not something from the weapon vendors or karma vendors).

Alsokeep in mind that cause off the poor quality you will likely need 2 transmuation crystals. One to bring the skin on the low level/quality sword so you have it account bound. And one to bring to exotic or better stats again.

Instead of the second you can also use a transmutation splitter. This is more cost efficient for hard to get by stats like legendary or ascended.

account/soul-bound follows the stats, and if the stat-supplying item can be soulbound, it will be. So:
special sword skin + white item stats = account-bound
special sword skin + green item stats = soulbound
then, move the sword with white stats to new character and:
special sword skin on white stats + exotic item stats = soulbound (usually cheaper)
or: transmutation splitter (cheaper for legendary / ascended)
