Question on Elonian Leather Squares

Question on Elonian Leather Squares

Before I go posting in the bug or account forum I just wanted to see if anyone has some advice on this.

I’m beginning to craft the precursor to the Nevermore staff. One of the items I need to chug out is Elonian Leather Squares. Everything I have seen online indicates this is a refinement recipe that is automatically learned. However, it’s not showing up on my account. Not when I search Elonian in the crafting search bar, not under refinement, and there’s not magnifying glass to “view recipe” like other items that are crafted from multiple pieces. My artificer crafting level is at 500, and I currently have 2 spools of thick elonian cord, plus the 3 types of cured leather necessary to refine into the elonian squares.

Is there something I’m missing entirely or has the game bugged out on me?

  • Huntsman
  • Armorsmith
  • Leatherwork
  • Tailor

i.e. all three armor-producing disciplines and the one that produces bows (which use leather for the strings)

artificer doesn’t refine T7 leather.

RIGHT. Thank you. I definitely never would have noticed that. Seems weird that under artificer I can craft/refine all the items to make the squares, use the squares to make something else, but not actually make the squares themselves. eyeroll

At least I’m already working on leveling tailor.

I’ve always hated crafting.

It’s a little weird, but it’s based on the need for artificer to refine various leather bits for Fractal- and PvP-related crafting. Originally, you’d need to go back & forth between different disciplines to make the components for Grandmaster [discipline] Marks. Per popular demand, ANet added the refinement for just those bits. Marks use Blended Leather rather than Elonian, so Artificers don’t actually need it (Elonian) for anything.

Or in brief, Artificers don’t refine items for which they have no direct use, including Elonian Leather.
