Question regarding underwater weapons.
Only active gear is considered, or at least it should be.
Underwater gear only applies when in water. If you are using weapon swap only the stats for the set you are holding applies. The only exception to that is the stats you get from stacking sigils. Those apply even when you have swapped to another set.
And sigils equipped in underwater weapons?
Its just to know if i must really build my underwater weapons, even though they will mostly be unused.
As was already said, underwater gear (including its stats and upgrades) only apply when they are actually being used (when you’re underwater).
if you have major sigil of bloodlust to get stacks on land 1 of your underwater weapons need the same sigil to keep stacks when going into water. if you have 2 sets only 1 weapon of a set need said sigil
Stacking sigils have an extra rule in place that closed an old loop hole. The game sees your load out as sets, though sets can share specific equipment when doing checks.
Originally, sigil and buff stacks were character bound, and only reset on death or area change. So what people were doing was using gear with stack effects to build them up, and then swapped to gear with flat bonuses to maximize them. For instance, you’d carry 3 weapons; Bloodlust, Force and Lighting. You’d use bloodlust and lighting to build up stacks to 25, then swapped in your Force weapon to have 25 Bloodlust stack + 5% dmg bonus. To close the hole, if you change weapons in the set, it checks the new set and flushes all sigil or buff stacks that aren’t available on your gear set.
But this is where the game’s code falls prey to itself. Swapping to underwater combat changes your Armor set, which automatically forces a check. Since most people don’t invest much in their underwater equipment, stacks tend to get lost frequently unless you put a matching sigil in your underwater set. This is also a pain in the kitten for rune sets, as they never put serious effort in expanding rebreather sets. So you have the Graveborne (which is karma and unsalvageable), Benthetic (which is a rare drop from Teq), and the Pirate exotic one that only appeared during one old Living story event (and was account bound if IIRC). If you use expensive runes, they are not cost effective, if not impossible to recover.
