Hello!

Normally, I would post this inquiry in the server-specific forum, but since there is none at this time, I guess this would be the next best place to post these questions. Anyway, I have some inquiries regarding Sanctum of Rall.

First of all, I’m considering in transferring there because I know some people who also play on that server; but I really don’t know much of it besides why the server is called such; and the people I know who play there, whom are mostly casual and stick with what they know, which isn’t much.

My first question is this: Does this server community use a centralized VoIP server for WvW which is open to anyone who participates in WvW? This is assuming that this same server is also advertised heavily in WvW. I know here in Jade Quarry, we have a TeamSpeak server that anyone can use to coordinate zergs efficiently.

Next: Regardless of VoIP coordination, which Commanders on SoR seem respectable? As in those who know how to lead and coordinate a zerg to perform their job well. That way, I should be able to recognize those names easily should I queue up for WvW, and point them out between the real Commanders and the schmucks who burned 100g gold just to be an attention-magnet in Lion’s Arch.

Also, does this server have a some forums or even a Facebook page where SoR members could get to know each other even more? I guess that would be more or less wondering what kind of server-wide events certain guilds might be coming up with.

And lastly: how are the pugs? I tend to play during odd times of the day, mostly during the morning hours since I work the night shift, and I love doing dungeons quite a bit. That would mean that I’m more likely to pug content instead of hoping for friends and guild members show up.

This is a great question. Is there a centralized VoIP server for WvW? I’m in Sanctum of Rall and I only use my Guild’s Ventrillo (WarFreak) chat to talk to people in our guild. I’d like to know the answer to this question, too.

SoR here as well. from my limited experience in WvW, i want to say that our server is quite active in WvW and there are a very dedicated group that put a lot of effort into it. i am sure more people can contribute in this area. another thing you COULD do to get a better feel and see if SoR is the right server for you, check out the WvW threads. there’s usually one for each week of our match-ups and am sure you can pick up some tidbits of info there. i don’t have enough experience running with any given Commanders out there to offer good insight, but I will say, i’ve followed a couple very good ones and were great at mobilizing people and putting our resources to good use.

In terms of PUGs, i’ve now found a guild / friends that I can regularly group with but we’re not a giant guild so often times we’ll pick up a few randoms. The first few times I’ve done dungeons were via PUGs as well so far, no complaints. both times i’ve let people know that i was new and people were willing to be patient when needed and led well. i was lucky enough to run some efficient dungeons and meet new people to play with.

and in regards to grouping up, i don’t feel it’s too bad either. people will call out in LA or near the dungeon entrance, but i feel on SoR, it’s mainly in LA. not hard to get in touch with people and most of the time, i’ve seen groups fill up at a decent pace.

lastly, you mentioned you are on in the mornings usually. can i assume you’re on either PST, EST or somewhere in between? i’m from Hong Kong so I’m on usually my night = your morning. and i play at all weird hours and have seen a decent population at most times. and if that’s the case, if you do decide to come over, would love to group and do dungeons with you as well.

Thanks for the information, akamon! I’ll keep that in mind should I decide to make the jump. For now, I’ll just represent the guild that’s on Rall if I just want to do a little chatter and stuff.

Also, I’ll be sure to keep track of some of the WvW threads. Maybe something interesting might come out of it.

As far as my mornings go, I’m in EST, so in your case that would be roughly evening time in Hong Kong. If that’s the case, I’m looking forward to bumping into you during my pug runs.

Lancelot is a warrior who seems like a good commander. I was teamed up with him and he was even nice enough to escort my ele through a jumping puzzle to combat any potential griefers. Then I logged my thief and we took some camps.

I do have one more question: who keeps track of the Orichalcum spawns for the server? Is there a particular page I should bookmark that keep that noted? Thanks!

re: Ori spawn maps i remember seeing a reddit thread specifically for SoR (can’t load the subreddit right now for some reason), but when i find it, i’ll send it over to ya. send me a pm! so i don’t forget

SoR is actually recruiting right now for players in your timeslot. There is a public Teamspeak server open to anyone on the serever, and server website at sanctumofrall.com. You can get more information on how to connect if you sign up there.

It’s hard to comment on the PuGs. I think individually we have good players on average, but we’re still working on communication.

The primary EST nightshift commander would probably be Alpaca Owl, but I’m sure there are others as well (Elthuzar). During the day we have a bunch of good commanders. Anyone from Tempest Wolves (TW), Caedas (CDS), Vigilance (VIG) or EPIC are a great start. Indo, Leader Mara, and Miasmic Spiritsong are a few off the top of my head.

It’s a solid server.

i just ran a PUG last night, and i either keep getting lucky, or the players in general are pretty good. but yes, it was rather quiet most of the time. mainly me talking to myself, haha and i get the occasionaly “lol” here or there.

and now that you mention it, i have followed Alpaca Owl (nightshift, since i’m in the same timezone) and also Mara over the weekends! i vouch for them myself, again, i’m not a vet in WvW but the time si have ran with them, they knew what they were doing and got stuff done.
