I’m hoping someone who understands the math involved might be able to answer these.

1. Can power affect the amount of crit damage in any way? Does it come to play in any crit damage calculations whatsoever?

2. If the answer is no, could having too much power negate critical damage a.d make it a non-factor?
Example – Could a crit ever deal less damage than a normal hit that was otherwise backed up by loads of power?

3. What is an ideal crit/power balance to be achieved in your estimation?

Thanks for any help answering these.

Yes. Power affects your damage, which is taken into account when calculating damage from crits. A generic crit does 150% of the damage done by a regular hit, so increasing power will increase the amount of damage a crit does as well. Crit damage increases the percentage of extra damage a crit does. So if you have 16% crit damage your crits will do 166% of a regular hit.

That means you need a high enough power so that your base damage is high enough to make crit damage important. If you’re doing 500 damage per hit, a crit with no critical damage will hit for around 750 . In that situation if you wanted to deal 1000 damage you’d need 50% crit damage. Otherwise you could go the direct power route and deal 668 damage damage per hit, at which point a regular crit with no crit damage would also hit for roughly 1000. If you’re dealing low damage, you are going to require a huge boost in crit damage to deal more damage overall.
