Q:
Quick Mesmer Trait Question
For the most part that trait doesn’t have much use. The daze slows down a unit (affects movement only) where-as a stun will stop a target for the 1-second duration. Stunning interrupts casting and channeling abilities which is a nice perk. Also there may be some rare instances where a mob may be immune to daze but not stun.
Doesn’t daze interrupt casting and channeling abilities as well?
You know I have to second-guess my response earlier. If you go to the Wiki link at the top of the guildwars2 page and search for ‘Daze’ and ‘Stun’ you get the following definitions:
Daze – An effect caused by some skills which interrupts and prevents the target from using skills for a period of time.
Stun – An effect caused by some skills which interrupts, immobilizes, and incapacitates foes for a short duration.
So I was wrong. Daze interrupts abilities whereas Stun interrupts and adds in immobilize factor. I will agree with you that 1-second really isn’t enough to make a difference though.
I found it to be a very useful talent in both pve and pvp, especially if you stagger the dazes from your shatter effects by using melee illusions/phantasms with ranged ones to make sure they don’t hit the target at the same time. Can really increase your party’s general survivability by smartly shattering them on mobs to reduce incoming damage. Does wonders for those moments when you just need to live. You will learn to love it in the Zhaitan dungeon, where undead literally don’t stop coming and you need to live till that next heal.
