Okay. I am going after a certain build but I have to use a mastercraft version of the Soldier’s spineguard due to limited karma restraints. (I love puzzle boxes, color me dumb)

The build has celestial gem upgrades for trinkets and the backpiece. Can I put an exotic level upgrade into a mastercraft backpiece or do the levels of the items have to match? The mastercraft version is a level 80 item as are the celestial gems, will it work?

I think it will work, the gem restriction is only the level of the item.

If you have 100g to spare you can craft an ascended back-piece that lets you chose any stat set you wish (Quiver of a Thousand Arrows) and you wouldn’t have to worry about the said issue.

On point though… I have never tried to put Exotic level upgrades into lower tier pieces but i don’t believe there are any restrictions as long as your upgrade component matches the same type of upgrade slot available on the item.

O, I will be getting the exotic version but currently there is a Cavalier’s ring to buy with karma FIRST and then I need to save for a little while, a couple days, and then get the exotic version at the temple of grenth.

Awesome…it’s just a stop gap solution to add the celestial upgrade immediately while having most of the exotic items stats….thank you

Update, this works like a charm, thanks for everyone’s input….

I just wanted to say that I believe there is a rare quality soldier’s spine guard on the TP. Usually it’s fairly cheap, iirc

The cost, currently, is about 3.5 gold, for the rare version. The mastercraft version has 2 less power and 1 less vitality and toughness and only cost 15 silver. All I really wanted was something better than the junk one I had never replaced from the personal story gifting and to be sure I could get the celestial upgrade in there before I get to Grenth and pick up the karma version. Thanks for the info though, I do appreciate the help.
