As a Ranger, This click button seems to flip back and forth between two things while in auto attack.

What is it doing?

Some sort of combo?

And speaking of combos….are there combos if you are solo or is it only if you are in the range of other players?

It is a combo system. In same cases it is an alternate attack, for example my Thief has a stealth shot when main handing pistols that he can only use when in stealth. Hover over your first skill out of combat and it will show all skills using that slot and the various effects/prerequisites they need.

It is flipping when you are beside or behind your target always if I am not mistaken, and that is when the auto attack on the shortbow causes bleeding with every hit.
