Real Pants?

Pretty much all of them appear to incorporate skirts in some way, but there are some that actually have pants underneath. If one catches your eye, you can try researching it on the GW2 wiki.

If you look on the TP for lower level pants, the Embroidered ones are actual pants, kinda baggy but I like em, had the same issue with everything being a skirt lol.. Just look for Mighty/Vital/watever Embroidered Pants.

I tried those, and the harem pants look wasn’t any better for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks, but those are all level 80 exotics. I’m level 20.
Come on ANet. Is it really too much to ask to play someone who doesn’t look like she defeats enemies with her mad pole-dancing skills?
I’d pay actual money for something that looks good and doesn’t make me feel like I’m looking up someone’s skirt. But since town clothes can’t be worn in combat I’m stuck with varying degrees of embarrassment and irritation instead. And most of the town clothes aren’t any better.

Ah that sucks.. All the others I’ve come across so far have had some kind of skirt component, but I agree they should add more variety, I don’t like them either. Good luck.
Unless you mean to transmute them all the way up with you, it’s easier just to ignore armour appearance until higher levels (or even 80). You need to be changing them out all the time as you’re levelling or you end up getting trounced due to bad gear.
Of course, if you have loads of spare basic transmutation stones, I guess it doesn’t matter. In that case try previewing things in the PvP locker in the mists, or just looking them up on database sites.
I found that in most cases playing a male character solves the problem of having too many dress and skirt options and not enough pants. There are some exceptions. And if Paragons ever make a come-back, well then you’ll be in serious trouble.

But I’m not playing a male character, and I don’t want to play a male character. Didn’t we get past the whole pants-are-for-men issue in the 70s?
I like a lot about the game, but ANet definitely needs to do better by their female characters with more varied clothing options, including options to not look like a stripper.
I don’t think I can get to level 80 very soon, and it just makes me feel creepy to be looking up some poor girls skirt while playing, and the camera won’t stay put so I can avoid that. I’ve got some Country Vital pants now that help a bit. They have skin-tight tights under a skirt.

Not necessarily. The Devout set is level 20 crafted: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Devout_armor You might be able to find some on the Trading Post. If not, let me know.
EDIT: Here are two other crafted sets:
-Student (level 25): http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Student_armor
-Acolyte (level 40): http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Acolyte_armor
Keep in mind that you can use transmutation stones to transmute the appearance of a high-level item onto a lower-level one.

I just can’t get over that you think skirt = stripper. Most of the skirts (after the starter set) are longer and/or have tights/leggings that go along with them. You seem pretty uptight…it’s not real…so just stop tilting the camera up the skirt to actually “see” what’s up there?

That’s where I was getting at. There is a pretty harsh attitude towards knee length skirts, so I didn’t think skin tight leather or hide pants with large cut-outs and mesh or lacing holding them together would make the OP feel the character was any more respectable. Finding the one pair that meets all modesty requirements and transmuting that all the way to 80 just seems…dull. Especially in a game where every driving goal it centered around aesthetics.
Obvious solution just seemed to be to play a male character. Then you can get all the pants and your character isn’t stuck for life in a giant quilt skirt and super thick panty hose. Could always buy a gem-store sex change later when an expansion introduces the women’s line of trousers.

These are the only light non-skirts I’ve seen for human, Norn or Sylvari females. They are the first tier of items crafted by tailors.

It’s not skirt = stripper, it’s that the whole attitude towards female armor seems to be that more skin = good.
Most GW2 skirts would be fine IRL. I would wear several of them IRL, where we have gravity and skirts don’t flare up half as much and GW2 skirts do (or maybe it’s just my rig – anyway, the skirt flares up a lot). It’s the combo of how stupid my camera is and how unrealistic the skirt flare is that started my hunt for pants. Finding no pants (or only harem-style pants, which aren’t my thing either) for girls is what’s giving me the stripper-ific vibe.
I’ve tried changing the camera, but it never stays that way. Every time I get near an obstacle or something it goes nuts and then goes back to the original angle. That angle’s fine unless I’m running, but there’s a lot of time spent running in this game. It just bothers me. Maybe I’m missing a camera control option or something. Is there any way to set the camera angle and make it stay?
I mean, it’s not a game-ending problem, but it’s one of those constant annoyances where I keep feeling a little more irritated every time it happens. Couldn’t the dev team just have attached the camera to the head or something instead of the waist or wherever it’s at now?

Oh, OK. That page earlier said Level 80 exotics, so I thought they were all only level 80. Sweet, I can even make the Student set this week.
Thanks so much people!
better than pants that look like gloves……
I am glad you find the pants awesome.
@gilosean
I don’t get your camera problem. I always run around, move around and do everything with my right mouse button pressed so I have control over camera all the time. That’s how I control area all around me and not just in front of me. Only places where that doesn’t work are more than 3 steps jumping paths to vistas and puzzles where camera goes beserk.
But I agree, there should be more pants for light armor. I have fem necro and I have same problem, I just can’t find proper leggings that I would like. All skirts are so… don’t know how to express… like I have 4 sizes oversized behind.

About “It’s not skirt = stripper, it’s that the whole attitude towards female armor seems to be that more skin = good.”
Didn’t you noticed yet in general western art, the hotter the woman is, the skimpier armor she have?
I would like to see more tasteful short skirts or pants added to the light armor selection… I would use the starter armor but I don’t want to see my character’s underwear every time i’m running. I feel like it’s either that or a million “butt capes” to choose from. Even the expensive karma armor has some big lace thing covering the backside. What is up with that?! So many beautiful armors from the front, but from the back they are so boring.
