I’m trying to record some gameplay but when I used Fraps or MSIAfterburner recorder my frames went from a stable 40-60 to a laggy unplayable 8 fps stable.
Why does this happen?
I tested recordings in both populated and non-populated areas and still got the same results. I remember a few weeks ago I could record fine with a minimum loss of 5 frames to a maximum of 20 at populated areas.

Does this lag occur from the new maintenance patches released recently or something else, I don’t really know the reason?

Thanks in advance for helping me out. Greatly appreciated.

@Thiago I’ve tried turning the FOV off and tested but still get the low fps. I tried turning it on and off through shortcut target commands and with it completely off and I honestly see no difference.

I found using fraps has a performance hit in any game not just gw2, especially ones that are cpu dependant.

How I solved it was to run fraps on a seperate cpu core to the game I was recording. start fraps, ctrl alt del and bring up task manager, right click the fraps .exe and set its affinity to a cpu core other than 0 or 1 (if you gave more than 2 cores).
then run your game and you shoukld see an improvement.

I also found setting the hard drive the videos are written to, to a different one than the games on to be beneficial, its preferable to not have fraps writing videos to the same disk the game is trying to read from at the same time
