Recording & editing video
FRAPS or OBS to record.
windows movie maker to edit which is free (although may have to dload from microsoft since its part of a windows essentials package and not included on all versions of windows, but is free to download)
Shadowplay with a 2.5gb ramdisk for 5 minutes of history recording (since I only have 2 SSDs in my machine, I didnt want to continually record on them). It allow you to easy capture those wtfjusthappenedmoments … lol.
Windows Movie Maker for editing. By being a little creative, you can censor out the chat box with text (ie black ascii boxes) but you loose the ability to bake in other text. That can easily be done through youtube commenting though. Cutting and sequencing video for black in/black out and adding music is incredibly simplistic.
If you want something more complex for editing look elsewhere.

Fraps files are just so massive and OBS is very pixelated for some reason. Even with my mighty google skills I couldn’t figure out how to fix OBS…
Guess I’ll have to deal with the monster files of Fraps. I’ll also look into shadowplay, I’ve never seen it so I’ll look it up. Thanks for suggestions so far but I was hoping someone could suggest something better than WMM for editing.
I had that issue with OBS. I can check my settings later. I found a guide for the proper settings for “recording only” and it comes out crystal clear with manageable file sizes. I know Fraps file size is insane.
I’ll definitely be giving that try… Thanks very much
I usually run sound and/or lights for the plays we do. BUT I also have someone run the video/camcorder and then I will do video’s for everyone in the show. I use Windows Live Move Maker.
This last time I had to take out some set changes and the Director talk at the start just to make it under the 2 hr soft limit on the DVD’s. I also added a flying video that was done for the play and pictures to the end for everyone. Took me several tries to get it all in there and still under the 2 hr DVD limit but with the tools in there I was able to do and then I did enough copies to give out at the cast party.
I use Nvidia Shadowplay.
It has 5-10 minutes after recording which is really useful, if i encounter something awesome or if i’ll be victorious in 1vX or something like that.
I don’t have to keep recording, i can take highlights afterwards.
I have used OBS and it worked moderately.
If you have Nvidia graphic card, download shadowplay!
Im on fire in Ring of Fire

I’ve heard good things about it but I’m on a Radeon (AMD) card >.<
I have also used VLC Media for editing out portions of videos. I had some old VHS tapes that I copied to DVD then took the DVD and edited out the sword fighting parts so that those that did the fighting could have just a copy of that part.
