Recovering from being HACKED!
weqwe221@126.com someone from this email address hacked my account.
I found away to recover my accounts without having to wait for
“Guild Wars 2 Support”.
If you have an NCSoft account, and your games
are linked there, you may login and change your password for the respective games at the
NCsoft Account Management page.
Here are the steps in recovering your GW2 account.
Step 1: Go here first and report! http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/ask/
Step 2: If you have an NCSoft account go here. https://login.ncsoft.com/login/loginform
Step 3: Obviously Login.
Step 4: Create a log for recording the attackers email address.
Step 5: Click the account in question.
Step 6: Change your GW1 password (This should change your GW2 password as well)
Note: This will only allow you to change it to a simple password, (only
letters and numbers). So make at least 10 characters something like:
This is an example only —-> “Th3BirDz12” (without quotes). Don’t
worry you will be changing it again, but this time to a much more
secure password.
Step 7: Now go to here QUICKLY!!! https://account.guildwars2.com/login
Step 8: Use the email address that you recorded from above for login, and you new password.
Step 9: Once logged in click “Edit Profile”
Step 10: Chance your Account Name —- this is where you put your email address back in.
Step 11: Enter in your new password, (example: Th3BirDz12) that you created, and click save changes.
Step 12: Now we need to chance that simple password into a more complex and more secure password.
Click in “Old Password” box and enter the password you are currently using
(example: Th3BirDz12).
Step 13: Now click in the “New Password” box and create a new STONG COMPLEX password.
(example: #Th3P@ssW0rd! … this is simply “The Password” with special characters. numbers, & letters) I think you should know is that all passwords should be 13 characters long.
Step 14: Next click in the “Confirm Password” box and re-enter your new pass word,
(example: #Th3P@ssW0rd!)
Step 15: Click the “Save Changes” button below.
If everything has good right for you, you should now have full access to your Guild Wars accounts again.
Note: Once you change your password for Guild Wars 2 to the more complex password, you will have to use that same password to log you into Guild Wars 1 as well.
Another Note: Make sure that your NCSoft password is different from your GW1 & GW2 password… it is your protection / safety net to get your account back again if it is ever hacked again. Oh and the email address for logging into NCSoft should be different then your GW1 & GW2 as well.
The last thing you have to do is re-contact Guild Wars 2 Support Team. You will need to let them know that you got your account back, but will need assistance in getting items recovered.
I hope this article / guide helps at least some of you out there… hopefully all.
