Sorry if this seems to be a stupid question, because I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere on the Internet.

1) the exotic fractal back piece, upon using the mystic forge to upgrade, will become ascended with 1 unused infusion slot?

2) if I were to infused the ascended backpiece with a fine precise infusion (+5 precision +5 agony resist), will the backpiece still be able to upgrade to the next tier (Beta Fractal Capacitor (Infused)) after I’ve found the 250 ectos?

3) if upgrade is possible, will I lose my fine precise infusion (+5 precision +5 agony resist) after the backpiece is upgraded into the (Beta Fractal Capacitor (Infused))? Or will it become +10 agony resist with +5 precision and the infusion slot has become used instead of unused?

From what I understand if you upgrade it you lose the current infusion.
As I’ve not done this yet myself (only just starting to look into it), I can’t say for 100%, but I’m pretty sure you lose the infusion.

I believe you can upgrade it to the Beta but yes, you will lose your current infusion.

If you upgrade you WILL lose your current infusion.

What you receive out of the MF is a ‘new’ item and will have an empty infusion slot.

On a side note, I know peole like to maximize stats, but I would just go with the simple versatile infusion for +5 AR that the Fractal vendor sells for 75 fractal relics. If you lose this upgrade it is no big deal (if you run a lot of fractals). It is easily replaceable with another purchased one later after upgrade.

The +5 precision is not much at all btw. It takes 21 points in precision at level 80 to gain 1% chance of critical. So that +5 is not doing a whole lot.. and it certainly costs quite a bit.
