Region Transfer Questions (NA->EU)
Also forgot to ask.. is there a pug community in EU .. ?
Can you actually find groups in LFG or is it like 95% statics ?
1. The transfer cost depends on the population of the server (regardless of whether it’s EU or NA). The Very High servers cost 1800 gems, High is 1000, and Medium is 500.
2. Your bank, currency amounts, and inventory won’t be changed in any way. The TP on EU is the same as the TP on NA, so no change there, either.
I don’t play on EU servers, so I can’t answer your last three questions.
1) Your whole account is always on the same server so it’s the same price no matter how many characters you have. It’s based on the server you transfer to and you can check the prices on the transfer menu in-game.
2) All of your items will move with you, whether they’re in your inventory, bank or anywhere else. The one I think might be an exception is if you have anything in a guild bank, I don’t think those are accessible cross-region, so you’d need to remove anything you’ve stored in there first.
The TP is shared across all worlds in both regions. The only one which is separate is China, because they have a completely different version of the game and you can’t transfer to that one. So moving items between servers won’t have any effect on the economy.
3) I don’t know enough about WvW to recommend a server, but you might be able to get some useful info from the leaderboards: https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en-gb/eu/wvw
4) I know even less about raiding than WvW, sorry.

My strong recommendation is that you do not transfer until you have found a world that meets your criteria. Transferring is is really expensive (at least 125 gold and as much as 400 gold, if you are paying by converting coin).
In your shoes, here’s how I would proceed:
First, I’d create a free-to-play account and start playing WvW to get a feel for what that’s like. F2P unlocks WvW when your first character reaches L60.
You won’t get to choose a server as F2P, but you can start asking for recommendations from others. I’d ask in LA, DR, and Rata (the most popular cities at the moment, in terms of people hanging around) and try to get opinions at various times of day, especially right before and after weekly match resets on Friday.
Since F2P can’t post to /map, you want to ask in the following locations:
- LA: near weekly reset, near the WvW portals; otherwise, near the forge.
- Rata: Accountancy WP (within /say distance of where most people hang)
- Divinity’s Reach: Minister’s WP. (less comprehensive, but covers a fair number of folks)
I’d also start looking for each world’s website. Until you’re on a server, you won’t be able to post in all of their forums, but you should be able to say you’re considering transferring and to ask what you’d fine. You can also post in the WvW forums here to see if you can get recommendations. (There’s also a semi-active LF Guild forum.)
Reddit is another good option for asking for opinions.
In my strong opinion (and from personal experience), it’s well worth taking a long time to do the research.
Awesome idea’s there thank you (:
I’ll start off by posting on the WvW forum and see where I get from there .. sort of hard going back to F2P for me as leveling is not my fav part (heck I used tomes for 7/9 of my toons).
Either way, never thought of it and it sounds very smart ty ^^
