First of all, i’m talking here about REGIONS not servers (You know, Regions as in NA x EU)

A friend of mine very recently bought the game with hopes to play with me. He already haves a lv 80 character from his free-to-play time in the game, and also has some friends from EU region that he has played with.

Thanks to the region difference, we cant play together. Not even in dungeons.
With some searching, i’ve noticed that its possible to switch regions if you have no characters, but what I’m trying to understand is:

-Is switching regions only avaiable if you have no characters ?
-Is it possible to have characters in BOTH regions in the same account ? (Could he switch region, make a new character in NA. And still keep his chracter in EU for him to play with his other friends ?)
-Is switching region possible at any time ? Would he be able to go back and forth from NA and EU at any time depending on with whom he’d like to play at given time ?

Yes, to transfer Worlds/Regions at no cost one must have no characters on the account.

No, it is not possible to have characters on different Worlds/Regions on the same account; to do so requires separate accounts.

Yes and no; one can change Worlds/Regions once every 7 days, either by deleting all characters to transfer at no cost, or by purchasing Gems to transfer with all characters intact.

Your friend could create two separate accounts, one in each Region, to be able to play in both.

This is why I originally got a second account.

One side note: When a free account is upgraded to HoT it gets one free transfer. There is no notification im game, but when doing it the price is 0 gems.
