I never was able to fully get into GW2 so I wanted to give it another try, I deleted my characters (consisted of a bunch of lower level characters) so I would be able to choose a new server. My only questions are if it would be better to join a lower or higher population server. Also, which server would better suit a newer player. I still consider myself new as I didn’t play a lot.

deleting all your characters doesnt let you choose a new homeserver for free. with or without characters you need to buy a servertransfer (wich till last month was free, but that was never intended and cause they had some problems with the guesting service).

You have to pay a servertransfer with gems wich you can buy for cash or with ingame gold. However this doesn’t limit you to playing on another server. You have the ability to guest. As a guest you have full access to a server except for World versus World versus World. And you can permantly guest or put half your farming money away for a servertransfer.

Then to answer your question. A highly populated server is the best for new people. The reason is that there are more people doing events, more friends to find to help you with ps and due to shared loot you still get full loot.

AFAIK deleting all your characters has no impact on your ability to choose a new home server, if you want to change it from your original selection, you’ll have to pay the transfer fee.

If you’re just starting out again, which server you’re on won’t make much of a difference, Guesting is in now so you can play with friends on other servers(except for WvW and players in the other region, ie: NA vs EU)

Yeah, I checked and I’m able to switch servers without a fee. So the higher populated servers would be best then?
