Remedial help in making money.

you have to spend time/hours doing something to make money. money isnt quick and easy to earn in this game.
Well i don’t know about TP flip, but i generate lots of coin by harvesting and killing everything and selling on the trading post when that provides a higher profit than merchants. Without dungeons and wvw there is no other way!
Well, sir, each day I make about 10-20g just running around completing things. Multitudes of jumping puzzled for splendid chests, several dungeon paths, even just critter killing.
I also banked about 75g from cashing in my 3.6 mill Karma. Always sit on your Karma until a rainy day — that lump sum is just nice.

Not sure what you mean by DR shutting you down as soon as you log in. I assume you are looking for higher level items from what you kill – definitely luck and I never count on that.
Just harvest everything, kill and get what you can out of that and sell on TP. What you can’t sell on TP, sell to NPCs (always check to see if an NPC will buy something before chucking it – it is surprising what all they will buy, lol). Your monies will accumulate but you do have to be patient and keep at it to start building it up. I only keep a couple of gold on hand and dump the rest in the bank and eventually you will see a very nice balance in there.
Rule #1 is buy low, sell high.
I don’t mean that you should speculate (You could, but the TP takes a big cut)
What I mean is when you need to sell something always look for the best price, never just take the offer.
Same when you have to buy. Always make an offer – never pay the asking price. You might have to wait a few days – sometimes you might have to offer again but in the end you’ll win out.
Learn what things are worth. Salvage items are more valuable than you might think. Sell them on TP (high, remember). Never salvage them yourself. Some green/blue items go at a good price on the TP because ppl are trying to get a load of them for the Magic Toilet – take the offer this time – you probably won’t get better.
After a hard session in EB. it takes me ten minutes or so to go carefully though my inventory, selling on the TP then vending the rest.
It’s very rare that an item is completely worthless.
Oh, and rule #2 don’t waste gold on useless stuff that just looks pretty – if it doesn’t help me kill faster, I don’t want it.
PS. You can buy nice WvW gear for Karma from the vendors in the borderland – if you have any interest in WvW don’t blow your Karma for gold.
My husband has made 100 gold in ~ two weeks through crafting. Can’t say much more; don’t want to ruin his market.

Is that before or after subtracting out the gold you could have gotten from the raw materials?
Just do whatever you like, it’ll make you money. I PUG the occasional dungeon run (not being picky about the dungeon or path), but don’t spend my money on expensive junk, and I have 185 gold plus a bunch of materials.
Exploring the world on lower level characters is an OK source for money too.
