Title says most of it.

I realize there is scam, spam, etc. But let’s get right down to brass tax and report them for what they are so we can get them out of our gameplay quicker.

Besides, it shatters my immersion.

For now, just use Report → Spam, then click Block.

But yes, a specific report would be great for Gold Spammers. And it would help Anet deal with them much quicker.

As long as everyone reports … that many reports on one user should easily raise a flag visible a mile away . ANET will know .

So, they buy the game, spam their “service” of selling gold and hope they get enough suckers to buy their gold that even if they get banned, they afford to buy another copy of GW2?
Otherwise I do not see the point.

Or they can just chat without being in game?
I ask because as soon as they send the chat, they are offline. Maybe never online?

That is what they hope for. That can only become a profitable venture if we aren’t vigilent in reporting. Just remember that every spammer,scammer and botter is chewing up bandwidth on the game server intended to be used for gameplay. Every time you get lag, let it be a reminder to report this kind of violation.

Gold sellers do not buy their own accounts to advertise. Every account spamming is a compromised account.

They are not buying copies of GW2 FYI. All those hacked accounts? that’s what those are used for. It is highly doubtful that gold spammers bought even 1 copy of this game.

Ok, here’s my personal suggestion, IGNORE them and tell everyone to do the same. There is an option to ‘block’ on your chat. All those hackers want is your money- mine, yours, the other players next to you etc. They hack accounts to spam so they jump around which is why you see them often. If noone buys their so-called ‘gold scams’ they will leave. Unfortunately, GW2 is highly popular game and its all new(month old only) so there’s still alot of gameboxes being sold in stores.
Hackers will try to sucker up to everyone for money!

report, block, then ignore. this removes them from your chat and from the server.

Don’t ignore them. Hit them with a 10 ton mallet. Everytime I see an e-mail from them, or see one of them speaking anywhere in chat, I report. ANet seems to be banning fairly promptly. The only way you can defeat the gold sellers is to cost them more money $50 each time thier account gets banned, then they are making from the people buying the gold.

The game I come from is Lineage 2. It’s another NC Soft game, that the GM’s didn’t watch as closely for stopping this trade, and it eventually totally ruined the game.

Should mention that it’s ingame now, when you report a character or mail, the option “gold seller” is there. No more debating if you should report a gold seller account as spam or bot, now you can report it as gold seller.

Noticed the option today when I received more gold selling mail.
