My (super tiny) guild is going to try and claim with a party of 4. Can anyone please give us advice for this fight? We do not have any Warriors/Berserkers, and have 1 Mesmer that is not also a Chronomancer. I think that we have at least one of every other profession, though.
We are going to try with a party of 4 first, then add more if that fails. We understand that we should not go above a party of 10, because it will start to scale up. Looking more for strategy and tactics, rather than “Use <this> gear and eat <this> food”, type advice. We have already looked at the dulfy guide.

Also, what does the “base” guild hall come with? Does it even have a merchant and armor repair, or is it just bare walls? I will probably make a separate thread regarding best way/order/method for upgrading, so please hold that sort of info, thank you.

We know that we need all party members to have Exalted Lore 1, or some kind of portal to reach the starting point for Gilded Hollow. We know that gliding is a requirement to get to the starting point for Lost Precipice.

Finally, what advantage/benefit does one hall have over the other? Why did you/would you choose the one you did?

It’s my understanding that the guild claiming mission scales with the number of participants, and I’ve heard of successful hall captures by small guilds.

You have to defeat a number of Mordrem maws, who have a shield up. To lower the shield you need to kill the Mordrem Vintenders, then kill the Maws. This is on a timelimit, so bring DPS. Also note that these maws appear in different locations, both on the main guildhall, or in lower levels.

After killing 5 of these you need to kill the Mordrem Knight(s). With your small group it’ll probably be just 1. Some of these are very hard to melee, and have breakbars, so bring range with plenty of CC.

Hope that helps. I suggest going for Lost Precipice since it’s easier to access. If you decide you want Gilded Hallow, you can chance Guildhalls afterwards. See if you can get a friend to help out to make your party five. It seems to scale in lots of five players, and it makes it easier to make that time limit.

Thank you for your advice. And I had totally forgotten that it’s possible to change guild halls – thank you for that reminder. What makes Lost Precipice easier to access?

Lost Precipice you only need glide 1 and it is located in the 1st HoT map.
Gilded Hallow you need to do the meta event of the 2nd map and at least 1 mesmer with exalted mastery 1 and open portal for the others to reach it.

You don’t need to do the meta. Just arrive at a time before the zone goes into octovine mode.

Gilded hollow is probably the easier one to actually capture with a small group but we did Lost Precipice with 5 people.

For gilded hollow it would be useful to have bouncing mushrooms and for lost precipice you’ll want updrafts.

It is possible to change guild halls but it is 100g each time and you have to redo the capture.

Repair anvil and merchant need to be bought. These can be done before you get the hall. They are 20g and 30g.

Thank you for the information. So changing guild halls is really just a matter of doing the other capture. I guess the important thing is that all your upgrades are grandfathered in. Otherwise, it totally wouldn’t be worth it.

In a discussion thread a few weeks back, the consensus was that any four people could claim a GH, as long as they were otherwise successful elsewhere (e.g. dungeons or fractals). You need enough damage and know how to survive the fights (and also pay attention to which foes to kill first), but nothing terribly difficult for nine or fewer people.

Everyone seemed to agree that 6-8 was a lot easier and that less than four would be really tough for a lot of folks.

tl;dr you should do fine with 4 for either GH

PS If you have trouble, ask in /map or LFG. There’s almost always someone willing to help out.

Then there is just RNG. We had one that spawned at the bottom of lost precipice followed by one that spawned at the top. We couldn’t even run to it in time.

Yeah, there are a bit of RNG involved, just keep trying till you get a good set of spawns.

Thank you everyone for all the information and advice. We’ll have to keep in mind that it may take a couple or more tries just because of the random spawn locations. re: In a discussion thread a few weeks back, the consensus was that any four people could claim a GH, as long as they were otherwise successful elsewhere – Do you remember what forum that thread was posted to? This same group has done the entire Personal Story, Living Story Seasons 1 & 2 and at least 1 path in every dungeon together, so we’re used to working with each other and coordinate well. We’re going to make our first attempt (and possibly more) this Saturday night. Thank you again for all the helpful advice and information
If anyone has anything else to add, please feel free to do so.
