In my guild we like to organise small events like : hide and seek, dungeon/fractial weekend, pvp events, WvW, etc

We have loads of fun doung this but we struggle to get everyone in the guild involved.
We use a forum and TS3 as our main channels to plan these things and we try to advertise them in guildchat aswell.
But for some reason people are too lazy to check the forum and not everyone is on TS so we have a relativly small attendance to these events.

We don’t want to force people to come on the forum and ts because we would like our guild to stay casual.
Do you guys have any tips to get the word across eazyer and get a more active guild in general.

My guild does similar things and when they set up a survey/discussion about it one of the things that came up was they actually had too many events. There was something happening at least once a day, which seems great but the effect was that less active/committed people kept thinking it didn’t matter if they missed something because they could just go to the one tomorrow. And as with so many things tomorrow became the day after, or the day after that…and effectively never.

The time is also important. A lot of the weekday events in my guild were happening in the early evening GMT time (most of the guild is in the UK and Western Europe) when in theory people would be home and able to play but in practice it didn’t always work that way because people need to do other things and of course the game is going to have to take a back seat to real life responsibilities. Switching to one event a week on a Saturday or Sunday works a lot better.

Although you’ll never get 100% participation at everything because unless you’ve got a very small, very close guild where it really is one of peoples top priorities there’s always going to be someone who can’t make it. But as long as everyone is coming to some of them, and more importantly the people who do come enjoy themselves, that shouldn’t be a problem.

If you’re going to have a casual guild you really can’t force people to go. Even if members have time to play the game while the event is happening they might regard their playtime as precious and prefer to get a dungeon completed as opposed to playing hide-and-seek on that particular day.

The best thing to encourage participation is for people to talk about how much fun they’ve had at the event, post funnies on your forums, tag jokes that happened during the event in guild chat — let people know what they’ve missed or what fun they could have next time.

What Danikat said about too many events is really important too. If there is an event happening every time they sign on then they have to bow out if they EVER want to get that dungeon path completed.
