It isnt clear to me what retaliation exactly does.

Lets say it says Retaliation for 6 seconds.
Does this disappear after one attack gets reflected back to its source?
Or does it continue to reflect till the 6 seconds are over (meaning all attacks during those 6 seconds)?

I couldnt really find out well from testing in heart of the mist vs those profession target dummies.

If you have block and retaliation active, does it block the first attack and retaliate the second one?

If you have retaliation for 6 seconds then all attacks during that 6 seconds will be affected.
The block and retaliation are separated things, the retaliation will act as I mentioned no matter what you are doing, the block part depends of the skill, some blocks everything for a period others just 1 hit and others are even conditional (ranger GS#4 will block all ranged attacks for a period but just 1 melee attack and trigger a counter attack)

So if a block and a retaliation are active at the same time and the block will block one attack, than the first hit you take both blocks and reflects?

Retaliation doesn’t actually reflect damage, it just inflicts a set amount of damage based on your own Power stat whenever an enemy inflicts damage on you. The incoming attack might do 100 damage, or it might do 5000 damage, but Retaliation will always inflict the same return damage on the attacker.

As such, if you block an attack, you don’t take damage, and thus Retaliation won’t trigger.

An extra note on retaliation: it will trigger damage to the enemy hitting you per hit. If the enemy uses an attack that hits multiple times (such as a pulsing AoE, warrior’s Hundred Blades, or engineer’s flamethrower) then the enemy will take damage multiple times so long as they connect while retaliation is up.

“Shortcut” tab > “Target”
Add to the end " -bmp"

Okay so if block and retaliation are both up, than you will block the first attack and retaliation will happen on the second attack?

No.
If both are up, you’ll block AND retaliate the 1st attack and keep retaliating the rest of the attacks while retaliation is up.
As I said, both are separated things that have nothing to do with each other, if you have retaliation then no matter what is happening with you, every attack that land on you will be retaliated (not reflected) even if the attack is blocked or cause 0 damage, only if you evade the attack it won’t proc the retaliation.

Thanks.
I understand now that block and retaliate, can happen at the same time.

I got a bit confused because there are 2 effects, which sound similar.
They both talk about the word reflect, which got me confused (I saw retaliation and reflect as the same thing, but they are different).

Retaliation, which talks about reflecting incoming dmg back to its source (x amount of dmg goes back to the attacker, but you still get hit by the ability that you retaliated)
and the effect Reflect, which reflects the actual projectile back to its source, without you getting hit by it.

Correct?
