Guild Wars 2

Hey all!

I’ve returned to GW 2 today after what feels like…. a year. I’ve managed to snoop around a bit during the christmas event, but thats generally it. With all these new patches and new additions, i must admit i am a bit lost.

So my few question to all you helpful helpers are:

What should i start doing first?
Are the important things to do right now?
What kind of amazing stuff have i missed?

I know that i could look for these answers myself, if i devoted time and went to the Wiki, but i tried and i generally got lost. Thus i turn to the GW2 community!

Welcome BACK wili i came to from a 5 monthkittenus gladly i could complete the 3 living stories taht are running up atm

you have 5 days to get yourself 1 Kiel mini, 1 Evon Mini and a Permanent Quarts node for the living stories rewards

as you can see some UI have been remodeled and they look sick

tbh i came back like 4 days ago but im falling in love again with the game

One of the biggest things that changed since I took my break is that you are now rewarded for achievement points, and rewarded in a major way.

Another major thing they changed since I’ve been away is that daily and monthly achievements reward “laurels” which can be used to purchase the best gear in the game. It will take you a lot of work, but at least you don’t have to grind away at fractals and pray to the RNG gods anymore.

Anyway, based on that you’ve got a couple options

- Make sure you complete your daily set of achievements each day
- Try to complete the July monthly although it may be too late at this point unless you are a very hardcore player. 10 dungeon runs and 50 WvW kills are 2 of the easiest, just check on gw2lfg for CoF P1 runs, they last 15 minutes max and run around in a zerg in the battleground of your choice.
- Living World Achievements for the Bazaar of the four winds & cutthroat politics – do these. You’ve got till august 6th. I’d focus on the meta achievements, don’t worry about full completion.

Oh one more thing. They added guild missions and “commendations” since I left. They also added pristine fractal fragments. These are 2 new currencies that you can also use as well as laurels to get ascended gear. So…

- Find a guild that does guild missions, run the missions with them.
- Get your personal reward level up to 10 in fractals and then do level 10 fractals once / day.

If you’ve been away since before Christmas then a lot will have changed. Too much for me to list on my lunch break, or even remember.

I’d focus on the permanent content since that’s the stuff that’s still in the game, but it might be helpful to get an idea of the type of temporary content that’s come along too since these updates come out every 2 weeks and sooner or later you’ll want to look into them so it’s worth having an idea of what to expect.

But for now I’d recommend focusing on re-familiarising yourself with your character(s) or starting a new one if you want and just getting back into the game in general. The next Living Story updates comes out on the 6th so I think you’d find it easier to ignore the current one and then start at the begining of the next chapter.
