Guild Wars 2

Hey Guys,

I’ve been out of this for a while and have just tried getting back into it. There have been some massive changes and i was wondering if anyone knew where to get like a general overview of some of the changes or a quick rundown.

Alternatively, would you think it’d be better to just make a new toon? I’d have to delete one of mine but the lowest is only level 35.

I’d appreciate opinions and info

quick run down (expect gaps)

don’t know how long you’ve been gone but I’ll work on since living story season 2.

first off, keep the toon. birthday presents are always good.

since season 2 you haven’t missed much other than HoT and balancing that has made builds better/worse, depending on the person.
new armor stat combos have came out changing metas.
PvP stronghold is a mini version of wvw but instead of 3 servers and massive maps, it’s 5v5 and 2 lords to kill.
New ‘better’ WvW maps which makes WvW ‘better’ to play in.
HoT with new lore and the intro of elite specializations to the classes additionally a new weapon per each. example, guardians with traps and a longbow (yeah a distance weapon)
guild halls. took 3 years but they are here. don’t need xpac to use, need xpac to claim.
able to vendor ascended stuff
legendary crafting
masteries (hot required)
‘balancing of skills’ – all personal on this one
raids – hot again
TP being thrown out of wack
new collections – may or may not need hot, unsure

I know I missed stuff, but if I knew when you stopped playing, I would have started there

Are those videos that helpful though?
They don’t cover any of the changes made with HoT/post HoT. You also don’t know what time period the videos cover until you start watching them, but that’s a minor issue.

OP definitely needs to give a time frame of when they left the game.

Hey guys thank you for responding! I left the game shortly before the end of living world season 2. I logged in briefly with characters just to mess around but never really did anything just walked around and read some of the masteries and stuff.

I’ll look into the videos since that’s something that would be really helpful but if there was anything for recent to address the issue FlamingFoxx brought up that would be awesome! I still don’t have HoT though so I’m not sure how big of an issue it would be.

There have still been a lot of changes to the core game post-LWS2 and HoT that will affect you even if you don’t have HoT. Off the top of my head the way unlocking skills and allocating trait points is a reasonably big one (though not super hard to figure out). Hopefully someone knows of somewhere that might have a good breakdown?

The videos are dated. And yes, they don’t deal with HoT but the last does deal with the new trait/skill system.
