Hi, as stated in the title, I’m returning to the game after a 2 year break.

The question is,

What would be the most efficient way to level up to 80 from scratch with no money? I’ve been just doing map completion until then.

I don’t know if this would also be the right place to post but I’m a Ranger (looking at getting HoT as soon as I become 80 for the Druid) and was wondering what kind of builds there are as I’m looking to be very active in WvW or Mists or whatever there is to do.

Whether or not it matters, I’m currently Lv. 38 as of now.

Thanks in advance for any information provided.

Fastest way would be to use the instant-80 boost that comes with HoT.

Otherwise, pretty much anything you do gives you XP (until it doesn’t).

Use food, utility and other boosters as you go. Kill the rarely-killed critters along the way. The longer something stands there, the bigger the XP bonus. Hello yellows!

If you’re going to buy HoT anyway you might buy it for the instant level 80 boost and free account wide slot.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level-80_Boost
“Instantly Level 80 — This boost will immediately raise you to the max level. You can experiment in the Silverwastes before you need to commit to expending this item.
Equipped with Level-80 Gear — Get equipped with armor, weapons, skills and specializations that will increase your effectiveness and help you navigate max-level perils.
Try before Committing — Try playing your profession at max level in the Silverwastes before committing to make the boost permanent for this character or to use it on another character.”

I would not use the L80 Boost; it’s better to re-familiarize yourself with your character and the game. There is no rush, truly. Also, I am not fond of the Elite Specialization, Druid, for Rangers. It is pretty much the only Elite Specialization I don’t use (at least partially) on regularly-played characters. (Ranger is my main, and I have 4 or 5 of them.)

If you do decide to use the L80 Boost, I suggest spending time in Maguuma Wastes before venturing into the Heart of Thorns.

Good luck.

^ That. I wanted to re-familiarize myself with the game. I had a Lv. 80 once but after that I kinda just up and quit because it was boring playing solo.

Thanks for the tips though, from you guys. Highly appreciated.
