Guild Wars 2

Hello. I haven’t played GW2 since release (played 1 month or so up to lvl65 Guardian). All my friends become inactive and I lost interest. Now I’d like to return into GW2 and play it solo. Few questions:
1. What profession right now is most solo-friendly?
2. Should I even bother with craft or just buy what I need from AH?
3. I missed like all events.. Will it hurt me much?
4. Most people are now high level. Is it possible to find a party for story mode low level dungeons?

To answer:

1) Many professions are solo friendly. I do most of my open world solo play from a Thief because it gives me a great deal of maneuverability and the ability to escape things if I bite off more than I can chew. My guardian also solos well by being very durrable and having the endurance to hang in for the long haul. The key is that you find a profession you like to play, and learn to solo with it.

2) Depends what you want out of crafting. There are dozens of threads in the crafting forum about weather or not you can profit via crafting, buy things vs craft things….. if all you want is the gear, just buy it. If you like crafting, then craft. I make money crafting frequently, but if I look at the time I spend to earn 10 gold crafting…. I could spend the same amount of time throwing myself at CoF p1 farming and make the same 10 gold. It’s just about what you like doing.

3) No, missing the events won’t hurt you. You missed out on an earring that can be crafted, and can only be worn 1 per character, a free 20 slot box, and some seasonal mini-pets. That’s about it.

4) Use gw2lfg.com for finding groups. Story mode is harder to find groups for, but on the flip side, many people are still running alts through story mode & story mode dungeon comes up on the new dailies. Just take advantage of the opportunity when it comes up.

To address your questions:

1) I say anything. Certainly I can’t think of a profession who I think can’t be solo’d. It all depends on how you build them, of course (my mesmer is terribly annoying to play solo, but I built her for staff and support so she operates MUCH better with others around).

2) As CassieGold said, if you just want gear upgrades (or appearance), buying it will be fine, there’s plenty available for cheap. Crafting can speed up your levelling though, if you want that – it gives good exp if you keep it up.

3) No, missing events won’t hurt, nothing that special was given out and through Jan/Feb/March the ‘Flame and Frost’ events have been very much minor background things while the core game features have been tweaked. You’ll slot back in just fine!

4) I’ve only recently started doing dungeons with some friends and we have found people for story modes easily enough. To my mind, if everyone else is level 80, they can afford a lower level person along, and most people should be fine with it.
