Returning player
1) There have been improvements in the necro minion builds, but not enough to make it viable in anything but open world and to some degree SPvP.
2) There is no more champ train in Queensdale. Most people either farm EotM, a champ train in Frost Gorge, the meta event route, or the newest living story stuff whatever it is at the time.
3) WvW has ranks added, which are now account bound, so all characters are the same ranks and you can invest your rank points separately. There’s a new zone called Edge of the Mists as well.
4) Not huge changes, but there have been some. For a necro, a lot of the changes have taken away the minions from the death trait line and made it more for soul reaping. Soul reaping builds, however, can be really cool and powerful right now.
1) Minions have a tendency of not attackING/getting stuck/not following, but from what I hear they don’t wander off as much as they used to. They are okay in PvP where the problems aren’t as apparent, but in PvE I personally find them too troublesome to use. I don’t know about pets since I hear Rangers have alot of problems so I never made one.
2) Mostof the Queensdale champions have been converted to Veterans which killed it. The only one left is the Frostgorge Sound train which also had some major changes.
They lowered the drop rates of gold+Bloodstone dust from champ bags and turned the (Fish/Kodan/Norn) into a separate event on a ~20 min timer.
The new rotation is:
2-3 cycles of (Wurm/Drake/Troll) and (Fish/Kodan/Norn) event on respawn.
3) I only WvW casually, but from what I can tell theres been any major changes. I only started playing maybe 6 months back so idk how if differs from before then
4) The April 15th Feature Pack was the most major update. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/April_2014_Feature_Pack
For more information you should probably go over the patch notes from when you left. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates
