Hi, all returning player not played for around 2 years, i purchased HoT and received the level 80 character boost, i proceeded to use the boost on a necromancer character and i was also leveling a ranger, when i played before i never got a character to level 80 and now on this boosted necromancer i feel lost a little bit, so what would you guys recommend me to do either carry on this necromancer and work towards getting 100% map completion and work towards fully ascended gear and max my crafting and complete all the storys or carry on leveling my ranger manually to 80 to learn the game and get 100% map completion whilst leveling?

I’d suggest levelling your ranger to 80 to learn the basic game systems in a more manageable way (i.e. Dodging, breakbars, positioning, mob attack patterns). Once you have that under your belt, you’ll be able to return to your necro and just concentrate on the class specific mechanics.

Agreed, though if you are going for map completion anyway, you could play either character and learn stuff as you go. Feel free to experiment, but if you feel completely lost you can always try builds posted on the forums here or on metabattle as a starting point to better understanding your classes. Start with starting zones, and work your way up from there (using the gate hub in lion’s arch to move between the different capital cities and attached starting zones).
