So, I was in the beta and part of the initial wave of players the drowned this game when it was first released (I took a week vacation for the opening week). I played for around a month and a half solid, got my ranger to 80 and leveled up a necro and mesmer alt to the 20’s. Then my guild, which I was very involved in, collapsed because of internal politics and that sort of killed the game for me, as I had already done most of the content at the time, and without the social aspect, I didn’t feel the need to stick around anymore.

Fast forward about 6 months, now I’m thinking of getting back in. I decided I wanted to try a new character, so I went with asura guardian, jumped into the game and started leveling. The problem: the lower level areas are completely barren. I see the occasional player once every 5 minutes or so, but I’ve been grinding out all the hearts and events myself and while it is doable it’s no fun at all. I stopped after a little less than an hour of gameplay.

I’m currently on Fort Aspenwood (population “very high”). Is pretty much the whole playerbase in WvW or the end game content? because soloing from 1-80 is not something I want to do, any advice or guidance anyone can provide to help me out? thanks

Have you asked people in mapchat? Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t around. It doesn’t always work, but if it does, you might make a new friend.

Of course some zones can be empty even on a high pop server. Does your playing time coincide with the prime time? Of the very earliest areas Queensdale and Wayfarer tend to have people there often waiting for the big event. Metrica is the most quite in my server, which is a pity as there is so much fun stuff going on there.

Wahoo for the asura guardian, excellent choice.

FA is currently T2 in WvW, the score is always very tight and probably a lot of people are absorbed by it.

Beginning zones and mid zones are often pretty empty. You may want to check out Queensdale (just use PVP to get to Lion’s Arch and take the gate to Divinity’s Reach.) There’s a major event that spawns there, so many people hang out.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

Wayfarer Foothills (1-15) and Diessa Plateau (15-25) are normally busy due to the Living Story events happening there atm.

If you somehow missed the popup telling you are in overflow you can hover over the minimap. It will say Overflow if you are in one.

The other starter zones have that too, except Plains of Ashford.
Caledon Fores – Jungle Wurm
Metrica Province – Fire Elemental
Wayfarer Foothills – Maw
