Hi, returned to GW recently and I’m a bit lost on which class I should play. I’m down to picking between a Ranger/Druid or Necromancer/Reaper. I like a more “ranged dps” type of play style with the ability to support my teammates if needed, but at the same time something that isn’t hard to play. I’ve read this points towards the Ranger/Druid class, however Necro/Reaper seems pretty cool in that they can go ranged or melee. I’ve read that Necro isn’t very good when it comes to end game group play (such as raids/fractals), however I’ve also read that Necros aren’t bad for group play…..Can fellow players give me some insight. Thanks!

Ranger/Druid is most likely what you are going to want to go for. You can do great DPS, while supporting your team members with useful boons, ect.

In Raids, from what I have seen/read, you’re used mostly for your healing, being almost purely support in there, but I have also seen people running condi-heavy builds in Raids as a Ranger/Druid, so there is some flexibility there.

Make sure to check out http://qtfy.eu/build/ranger they are a leading guild that makes builds around performing very well in Fractals/Raids, that and https://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki for some general builds, that you can use to see what you like most. But, be sure, with the meta being what it is, that people will expect you build competitively and follow proven builds.

Best of luck, and in the end, do what YOU find most fun!

Agreed, particularly for raids and high level fractals, which require more skill and teamwork to complete, and thus people have more expectations on you in the group.

However, for lower level fractals, dungeons, and group map events, you can play whatever you want. I love both classes, but druid definitely wins in terms of support.

Necro has the ability to manage and manipulate conditions, pulling them from your party to yourself and sending them back to the enemy/boss, as well as spreading them around. It also has the ability to give life steal, which isn’t huge overall, but does give everyone a passive heal and damage boost just from attacking. Reaper also has considerable access to chill, which is a great debuff to slow the mobs down.
