Hello, today or well just now I decied to boot up some GW2, I haven’t played for a long time and I just purchased HoT. Now that I’m max level once again with some gifted items I’m ready to jump into Jungle. But here is my question, as I haven’t finished my main story quest yet including I haven’t done any of previous living stories~ scarlet thing was it?

My question is simple should I continue my journey into jungle or should I go back to finish my main story quest first and after that previous living stories which are available as far I noticed ingame? Or is there some general guide around that I could look into what to do as “newcomer” once max level. I think I have been away for more than year and half so there is alot of new stuff around and I’m just a bit overwhelmed now and not sure what to do, as people on general chat don’t really answer my questions.

depends on if you care about the story or not. if you don’t just start grinding out the jungle, if you do, finish your story thing first, then buy season two and play it or alternatively read up on season 1+2.
i don’t know of any guide but i imagine you should find something in the depth of the internet.

Thanks for answer. Yeah I like lore alot at games if it’s weak I lose interest into games really fast. And GW2 seems really to be loaded with lore. So guess I’ll finish my lore quest first, but only mistake I did is when I boosted my guardian to max level wish I haven’t, I only did 52% of world map exploration so that kinda nailed me down.

1.) Do Living story 3, it unlocks ember bay, bloodstone fen and the new bitterfrost map. Why? Because it gives you access to populated maps, reward tracks for pvp/wvw, great place to get EXP and loot and gives you the new “Currency” that you can use to buy Ascended backpiece, trinkets, rings, amulet that you can select “ANY” stat combo you want.

2.) Do Fractals dailies everyday, the higher tiers gives you a chance for a random ascended gear/weapons and rings and trinkets. Research pages from Daily recommended Fractals can be used to buy Ascended gear of your choice without you crafting them. Fractals is also a good way to get daily gold.

3.) Once you unlocked the new living story maps, do their dailies for EXP. Remember, keep farming Blood Rubies, Petrified wood and Winterberries. Oh and unbound magic.

Being L80 doesn’t keep you from exploring the World. In fact, it may be a bit easier. You still get loot and Map Rewards.

I’d say, complete your Personal Story, or most of it, and then Living Story Season Two, if you care to purchase it (if not already unlocked), and spend some time in The Silverwastes and Dry Top before tackling the Heart of Maguuma launch maps. They are a bit more difficult than Core Tyria maps.

Or, you can try the newest maps (if accessible [Bitterfrost will be, as it’s current]). They are a bit easier than the launch HoT maps, and lots of fun.

Welcome return, and good luck!

If you’re interested in the lore and storyline I definitely recommend playing through your personal story (and Season 2 if you’ve got it or are willing to buy it) before starting HoT. You can do it in any order but it will make much more sense and you’ll understand more of what’s going on if you do it in order.

You can still do both your story and world completion once you’re level 80. The game will automatically scale you down to the area you’re in. You will actually be slightly more powerful because you’ll have a full set of skills unlocked and because level 80 equipment gives a bonus to 3 stats instead of the 1 or 2 you get at lower levels, but it’s not like in other games where you’re running around 1-shotting everything. (This does also mean low level enemies can do a lot of damage, you can’t count on being high level to keep you alive.)

You will still get experience points and equipment for your level too, although the story rewards are specific to the level of the chapter, so those will be too low level, but they can still give you some good skins for the wardrobe.

Thanks guys. Nice feedback I’ll put it to good use, I’ll focus on unlocking my mastery spec first I think and then I’ll finish off my personal story, I don’t have Season 2 I thought of buying it or if there is some good resource to read upon it I’ll do that instead for now.

Since I got boosted items which seem to be quite bad do you think people will accept me into fractal groups as someone suggested?

You can create your own Fractal group and set the parameters yourself.

I’d learn how to play my character of choice first, before attempting high-level content, though.

Still, up to you…it’s play-how-you-want here.

Good luck.
