Hello guys,

I have been playing GW2 for 2.5 years, expansion included, and left 5 months ago. I have experienced almost everything the game has to offer, and I always loved it. Regarding my main character, it is lv80, I managed to grind my full ascended set and 4 ascended weapons, ascended accesories and rings and backpiece. I finished expansion story, unlocked and finished every map and metaevents, and experienced the new raids.

I really want to return, but the feeling I had when I left is still there: having my ascended gear, the most important masteries learned, and having experienced and “finished” the expansion, what is there in term lf progression for me? A part from legendary, which is not really needed stat wise if I have ascended, what interesting rewards are there to make me want to grind metaevents at the expansion maps, or doing raids and more fractals? The only reason I find is to get gold and more gold to buy legendary in a near future, but that is not enough to make me log in every day for hours after being a player for 2.5 years. So is there something that I am missing that I dont know about expansion rewards or coming features-content to give some sense of progresion for a player like me?

New large patch coming in 2 weeks; perhaps, it will offer something that interests you.

Good luck.

Why wrong? I played and loved it for 2.5 years, so it is the wrong game because I have finished the available content or because repeating killing tequalt, or grinding metaevent maps for gold to buy nothing (as i already have full ascended set) does not click on me?. I think that the constant living story additions and events during season 1 and 2 helped me to stay for so long, as well as having to get my ascended gear, that is why now I am willing to retuen but all i see is the same I had done for 6 months before leaving some months ago

because it sounded like you wanted gear treadmill to have something to work on all the time. I guess you could go and make a set of every stat otherwise that criteria is probably never going to be fulfilled.

Living World Season 3 starts on the 26th, so that may have something new to interest you. We don’t have a lot of information on it, but it should be a major content drop judging from the long buildup and the scheduled release cadence.

Different people like different content, and since you mostly list your gear as your achievements, it sounds like basic vertical progression is what you want. GW2 has a pretty limited amount of that, however—You could fight your way to high level Fractals (building agony resistance) or you could try out the new HoT four-stat combinations to see if you can create a more powerful build, but there are only so many raw powerups you can obtain. If you haven’t completed all of your masteries, those are a major part of HoT’s vertical progression.

Depending on what you enjoy, you could also try branching out. Achievement hunting can be satisfying for a lot of people, especially the mission-style achievements of LS2 and HoT’s story mode. I find that other classes are also a lot of fun, so I can keep things fresh while saving my main for when I need serious firepower. PvP is also an option, if you want to feel like you’re the best fighter, not just the best-dressed.

Good luck!

I just finished Nevermore and I thought I might feel burned out, like there was nothing to do, and I decided to hunt for achievements and grind Edge of Mists reward track for skins that I like. I finished crafting ascended for all three weights, backpieces, I have all the ascended trinkets I could use. I have lots of ascended weapons, and I have all my crafting completely leveled. I needed to take a break from crafting, which is basically why I bought the game in the first place. My next step is to make Mawdry, max out Scribe for achievement points, etc. My big goal is to chase achievement points until I have completed the Zenith collection. This is going to take a long long time

In other games they have a gear treadmill. Players are always searching for their next upgrade. But when you’ve beaten the last boss and you have the best loot, you always find yourself asking, “What’s next?”

Maybe you just need a change of pace? I won’t say it’s worth it, but legendary items are a decent distraction. They keep you busy for awhile and force you to explore more of what the game has to offer. And you get a cool skin at the end!

It’s true you don’t need the stats. For that matter you don’t need to play this game. But if you like it, want to play it, but find yourself lacking the drive to continue playing, the only solution is to find a goal you find meaningful and work toward it. If the game has nothing meaningful left to offer, well, you probably know what that indicates.

In any event, I found myself asking the same question, took up my first legendary project (recently completed!) and it solved my problem for a bit.
