Greetings. My wife and I returned tonight after leaving the game last year. It’s been a long time and we have much to re-learn. A few questions:

1) We are both 80 and I notice that we are still gaining xp and our xp bar is even filling up. Is there some kind of alternate advancement system for enhancing level capped characters?

2) Is there a LFG tool for dungeons?

3) What dungeon should we start with (we’ve never done a GW2 dungeon)?

4) Has crafting changed significantly? What’s the consensus on craftable weapons. Comparable to tier gear?

5) How do we get involved in this Living Worlds event? In chat, someone said that we should be trying to get “LW skins”. What exactly did he mean by that?

Thanks all

Max is still at 80, every time u level again at 80 u get a skill point for it but you level wont increase.
No lfg tools yet but I recommend fotohlfg app.
Crafting is still the same but they will increase to 500.
U should get a mail to tell u where to ho about the LW events

1) Skill points is also a type of currency. You can use them to buy stuff from Miyani who is next to the forge in LA. In the future there will be additional skills to added for each profession which will undoubtedly require skill points. Probably lots of skill points considering how many skill points they are throwing at people these days.

2) Still working on it

3) Which ever you feel like. I started with Twilight Arbor but that was just because it happens to be the one my friends were going to do. Doing the story modes in order would probably make more sense if you care about the plot. If you plan on getting the Dungeon Master achievement I recommend writing down which dungeon+path combinations you have done as you do them.

4) All gear from all sources are equivalent in stat as long as they have the same level requirement and rarity. The only difference is in how they look

5) With each LW release your character will get a mail about some place to go. That will be the starting point. From that there is generally further instructions on where to go next. Attempting to do the LW content without following those can be slightly confusing unless you’re using some other source as a guide such as dulfy.net . Some of the LW releases have skins related to them. There are two identical Black Lion Weapon Specialist next to the trading post NPC in each of the cities. You can talk to them to see the list of weapon skins that are associated with the previous LW releases. You might want to try getting them if you like how they look. They used to be account bound but that is no longer the case with the latest patch. They sell for a nice chunk of gold.

Thanks for the replies, folks.

My wife and I duo’d all content to 80 and have very little grouping experience. Given the de-emphasis on trinity classing, I m assuming (hoping) people are more relaxed about group composition for dungeons. We usually play tank/healer in MMO’s but we went this time with Guardian/Thief for fun. Will this limit our grouping eligibility!

That’s great to hear about the comparability of crafted gear, surprising, but welcome news. Usually the raiders and dungeon divers complain that this kind of comparability provides little motivation for endgame content. Why didn’t that complaint get heeded here I wonder?

Thanks again, we quickly remembered why we enjoyed this game so much. We had to stop playing due to RL issues, we didn’t leave for my other reason. Game is far more crowded than I remember, and I see again why it remains so popular.

In reality that will be fine but some people will go on and on about how only this or that is viable. Some combinations are easier or require less coordination than others for particular situations.

I guess there could be a couple of reasons. You get the gear with tokens which are rewarded for completing a path but the tokens are used to buy a few other things as well. Gearing through dungeon is also arguably easier than other methods assuming you don’t hate doing dungeons. Much cheaper in some cases. There are also some stats which are unobtainable through crafting but available through dungeons(reverse is also true). Gear is also not as important here as in some other games. For example a friend has been leveling his mesmer completely naked, no armor or weapons. Last I heard from him he was in Straits of Devastation so that is at least lv70.
