Guild Wars 2

I was just wondering what to start playing as.
I know stuff got changed alot in (about a year) i been gone. Can someone give me a quick rundown of what the professions are good at now.
I remember playing a mesmer, and it was rateher fun, but had its problems in PvE, and I wasn’t that great at PvP :-( (Just needed to practice more)

So if someone can give me a quick rundown on the current situation, that’d be great.

My thought is doesn’t matter, but what you enjoy playing is the most important. Things might have changed or change. But playing with a group who works together to help each other while having fun is important in my honest opinion this is where a Guild should be of importance.
We craft so that we can assist by making better gear and equipment for each other.
I have several “character’s” with a range of profession’s.
So feel free to contact me ingame, and if you have any friends returning also join me and join us. We have a Ventrilo server for use also. Having new people and friend’s bring so much more to the game regardless where their from or timezone.
Myself and my buddy are in the US, him in the EST while I’m PST. We’ve have known each other since 2001, and also play a few other multiplayer online games on PC.

Well, i am looking for someone to tell me the general feel of the professions, so I can see whats what. Like Elementalist’s AoE damage, or Thief’d mobility.

And when I said professions, I meant the battle classes, not the crating professions.
