Hello GW2 ppl!

So i will absolutely be making my Revenant an Asura or a Charr. I have yet to make either race. options to weigh. I will be using this toon in both PvP and WvW…so i know the logical choice would be Asura bc their actions are harder to see. But charrs from an aesthetic point of view just look cooler in heavy armor. I need help in making my decision. please post your best looking heavy armor charr or asura to help me decide! Or write out why i should choose one or the other? Thanks in advance!

In WvW the asura advantage only matters as a roamer, in the middle of a zerg is barely makes any difference.
In PvP if you are among higher level play your opponents will probably have “Standard Enemy Models” on and for them you’ll appear like a human, if you are not in a high level play then the small movement advantage also barely makes any difference.

So, I suggest making the character with the race that please you the most, that seems to be Charr in that case.

I used to main a Charr warrior, and I deleted it because of horrible camera angles in small places. Charr movement also looks kinda slow imo, and I just generally like Asura animations more.
In the end, its all personal taste tho

I think heavy armor looks great on charr, and I like the race overall. However I am worried that with Rytlock returning we’ll see mostly charr revs (and human female, of course).

That said, everyone should play whatever they want, statements like mine above should hold no sway -- just making an observation; I’ve decided to go with a sylvari (unless I change my mind after the beta).

Given your post, it sounds like you like charr and heavy armor, too, so I’d say you’ve got your answer! For the legions!

I’d say go with whatever race you think you’ll enjoy the most. If you haven’t made an asura or charr yet, may I ask why? If it’s because you don’t like either race much, then that’s your answer. Don’t make one of those. There’s nothing wrong with having nine characters of the same race., and there’s nothing wrong with having one of each race. It’s yoru game, so the imjportant part is that you enjoy it.

Personally, I hate playing a charr, as they keep running on all fours all the time. I think that both looks and feels ridiculous. I do love asura, but I’m not a big fan of their gear (mostly). Sylvari are nice, but I don’t like their faces much (with some exceptions). Humans are fun, but boring. They are in ever game ever made. Norn are fun, but too big. When I’m teamed up with humans, it makes me feel like I’m taking the kindergarten on a field trip, as they are so small compared to me (and I made sure to pick the smallest body size.) The point is, every race has flaws, but they all have awesome sides too.

Plus, if you’re an asura, you get to spend time with Zoija, voiced by the lovely Felicia Day. That’s why my of my char’s are asura.

Ugh i still cant decide…think i’m more on the fence now haha. I’ve looked through tons of galleries but there is no mixing and matching of armor (which i love to do). And the colors i normally use are never being used in galleries. Guess ill just have to make a gut decision when the time comes. Good point about everyone probably making a charr tho. I haven’t made a Charr or Asura yet so either would be new for me. Maybe ill delete my warrior and try both before expac

from a looks standpoint, only you can decide what is best.

from a mechanics standpoint, look at the racial skills and what may be useful.

if you plan to focus on conditions in your rev build, go asura. if you want boons and some extra mobs to give damage for you, go charr.

For binding racial armor it helps to have one of each armor class. For example, I have a Charr guardian and a Charr ranger so the next Charr I roll will be something in light armor.

I am at 6 characters. Based on this I have my characters (both races and professions) mapped out until #15. My next 3:
Sylvari Revenant
Norn Thief (or a human thief, both fit well in my future plans)
Asura Necromancer

Next BWE make both a Char and Asura and try it out. You will get a good feel of their animations, equipment and what not.
