I bought the Ringmaster’s hat from the gem store with the intention of using a transmutation stone to give the skin to my Nightmare cowl, however i am unable to.

If this is intended then i’d like to warn people before they buy this item that they can’t transmute it to combat items.
If this is unintended please fix =[ i love this skin.

Ringmaster’s Hat is a Town Cloth item type, and can be worn only in Town Clothing head slot. You can’t transmute Town Cloth items look onto regular armour (worn in combat). This is intended

I kinda wish they would allow at least head slot town clothing to be transmuted for combat gear. Look at the sunglasses after all, wouldn’t it be awesome to have them as a head slot for your combat gear?

When you examine the hat it says you cannot use it in combat, so why would you think it is compatible with armor?

I expected it to be compatible with armor because it’s a head slot item :s

Unfortunately GW2 is all about “realism” because ArenaNet wants the game to be a “PvP E-Sport”. While WvW is more of an extension of our PvE characters, it does still involve a lot of their PvP balancing philosophies. Amongst those philosophies, ArenaNet wants every class to be at least vaguely recognizable by their armor appearance. As a result, there’s unforunately no way for me to buy the Cook’s appearance outfit for my Warrior Cook and to still use it during combat (via Transmutation Stones) because it could be potentially unbalancing in WvW.

I frankly think that their point of view on this matter is rather dumb, but they’ve always been consistent and up front about this view.
