Why am I suddenly getting ruined ore chunks sometimes when using orichalcum mining picks on orichalcum ore? same with orrian saplings and hell sometimes mithril nodes are giving me ruined ore chunks…whats happening here?

You need to buy the next set of tools, Hobbes. Or the tool set for the level you are in…..i.e., the Ori set.

I had the same problem last evening …. Ended up with 9 ruined ore from my Ori nodes before I noticed the problem. I ONLY use Orichalcum tools.

No, I will admit it. I keep both mithril and ori tools on me and swap them accordingly. There have been times where I would forget to swap in correct tools and accidently mine stuff for ruined goods. But I really need you to trust me on this one Raf…it is happening when using the right tools on the right nodes as well.. Not all the time, but enough to be annoying and it seems to be happening only recently to me.

This happened to me as well this weekend, and I immediately checked my tools when I got the ruined chunks… they were Ori tools as they should be.

I didn’t report it because I was busy at the time and it was just three chunks (didn’t run into any Ori nodes after that)… but if others have it happen, it’s clearly reportworthy.

I have this happen sometimes, with ori tools and black lion tools, it happens if I happen to be in combat at the time.

I’ve had some ruined ore’s, plant fibers, and logs from gathering while getting attacked… Could you clarify whether you were getting attacked/in combat mode while gathering. or are you getting ruined ore even out of combat?

If you are getting the ruined ore out of combat, then I’d say there is a glitch/bug causing it.

Interesting. It’s definitely possible I was in combat too when I got those ruined chunks.

However, I am in combat a lot when I gather (mobs are really protective of their nodes!) and never got ruined chunks, fibres or wood before or after, so something’s off about it either way.

Kk gents…was just saying. I keep several sets with me so I don’t have to use the good ones when running with lower level guildies. Have equipped the wrong set more than once.

I’ve gotten ruined ori chunks while in combat several times, even though I don’t have a problem in combat with lower resources. Problem solved, no reason to assume the OP is mistaken.

Its been happening to me lately too, and while a few I can chock up to being in combat, I know for a fact a few I checked around me and nothing could be seen remotely close, not to mention my skill and hp bar indicated I was not in combat. I was using ori tools as well, still got ruined chunks. Maybe this was intended to curb flooding the market by node campers? idk. Would be nice to get some Reds in here to comment on it though. On one note, someone mentioned trying black lion tools, I never ever use those on ori or other max gathering nodes, those things are bad bad tools. I’ve had them fail on low level stuff before lol. While they can yield yummy rare mats out of it like jeweler stuff, ect, they are bad for getting reliable quality gathered mats on the higher end of the spectrum. Maybe it’s just me idk, but others I talked to said the same thing about them.

If you’re being attacked by something, then there could be a chance that you’ll end up with ruined materials. I know it has happened to me once.

My best suggestion is to kill anything you may have aggroed on your way to that node before taking a whack with your mining pick. Since doing that, I haven’t had a ruined ore chunk since!

i used to run with multiple sets, but now in Orr, i’ve become so lazy (and less cost effective) to the point where i just run with Ori mining tools. and this happend to be just last night as well, i got ruined ore chunks for the one Ori node i happen to come across (wasn’t chasing down nodes).

at that point, i wasn’t being attacked either. i clearly remember this as I didn’t do any mining at that point since I did my daily and didn’t see other stuff i needed. end of day, clearing my inv and i found 3 ruined chunks, and no ori. haha i guess i shoulda checked while mining…

and yes, i’ve tested mining while under attack and most cases there’s a chance you’ll get ruined goods. not guaranteed but higher chances.

It’s very possible to get Ruined Ore when you’re being attacked. It’s happened to me before when gathering Oric with an Oric pick. I know because I always immediately check what tool I have if I get any “ruined” material.
