Guild Wars 2

Just bought the game and I’ll need help figuring out what class and stuff I’ll want to play. I get bored really fast if I’m not moving fast and blowing stuff up. So, can you guys help me out with this? Which classes and races move fast and blow stuff up?

Incidentally, can I change the forum background color? White/Bright backgrounds make my eyes bleed.

Ele with dagger skill 3 moves very fast and blows things up at the end of it. Probably engineer is what you are looking for though.

Actually it may be skill 4, you need dagger off-hand. It is called ride the lightning anyway. You need to be in air attunement, and weapon and attunement skills are unlocked as you kill mobs and gain levels so it won’t be availible right away.

EDIT: You can go to the heart of the mists which is the sPvP area as soon as you start the game (top of screen you can see how to get into WvW and PvP). In the sPvP lobby you have access to all skills and traits as if you where max level. You can then either practice on target dummies or other players to see what you enjoy about any class.

Does Character Species influence speed or explosions?

No. All character of the same class have the same basic skills available to them. Race doesn’t matter except for cosmetic reasons…and choice of one elite skill later on

All the races actually move at the same speed, but if you like your characters to move quickly I recommend picking an asura.

Their animations are more energetic generally and because they’re so much smaller than the other races they look like they’re running flat out to keep up. Whereas at the other extreme the norn look like they’re just jogging along casually.

Yeah I’d go with an asura d/d ele or something – have a play around with it and see if it suits you.

Engineer has bombs and grenades.

Engineer literally blows stuff up with grenades and bombs, but I don’t think they jump around as much as Elementalist, which has (imo) absolutely the coolest effects in the game. You can easily have permanent swiftness (at later levels) and many skills make huge explosions (Churning Earth, Burning Speed, Phoenix, Fire Grab, Meteor Shower, Glyph of Storms, Arcane Wave to name a few devastating skills)
