So I just returned to the game, I want to complete the map but I get bored every time I try to.

Yesterday I saw a video of GW2 running at max settings, and it looked wonderful. I think it will be easier to get stuck to the game if I can make my game look like that.

I’m running gw2 at min. settings, for sake of FPS. (I like wvw too, in high settings is impossible to play).

My PC.
Processor/CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66 Hz (2CPUs)
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series 2GB DDR3 ->http://www.gigabyte.com/fileupload/product/3/4794/9016_big.jpg
RAM: 5 Gb DDR1
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
OS: Windows 8 64bits
Resolution I use (Max in the monitor ) 1680×1050

It’s an old Desktop HP Pavilion but with the years I bought 1 more gb of RAM and changed the GPU to the Radeon R7

At min graphic settings, I run the game at (approx) 25-30 FPS.
At max graphic settings, I run the game at (approx) 8-11 FPS.
(In a city like Lion’s Arch, I didn’t try it at wvw)

So, what do you guys think? Where is the main weakness? I feel like it’s the RAM, it’s not a bad quantity of gb but it really is very slow.

Should I buy new RAM, faster one?

What should I upgrade in my pc?

Thanks for any single answer you give to me, even if it’s : " this computer s_cks " I’ll apreciate.

I use the R7 240 and my fps with everything but AA maxed is 25~50 depending on where I am and what I’m doing. (full screen, 1600×900)

I’d imagine your older hardware (ie, DDR1 ram when the base of most systems now is DDR3) is bottlenecking your performance, so I’d invest in a more recent motherboard or, if you have the funds, an entirely new system.

Resolution can also have a huge impact on performance. running at a lower resolution in windowed mode may drastically increase your performance

new motherboard and new processor if you can afford mate, graphics card should hold up. maybe upgrade to 8gb of ram too.

Yeah … the whole box baby. CPU is ancient. The G3258 dual core is roughly 70% faster. Being an old HP it means it has a sub par power supply which helps to explain the R7 240, it’s relatively cheap and low power, but it needs to go as well if you ever want a faster video card.

So the core “guts”, CPU/MB/RAM needs upgrading. That’s under $200 for a G3258/Asus H81M-E microATX/2×4GB DDR3-1600 CAS 9 memory.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

May also want to consider going with an Intel chipset and an Nvidia card. Many folks I’ve heard mention say they run the game better.
Completely happy with my i7 4770k though that’s a little overkill for simply playing the game.

Resolution can also have a huge impact on performance. running at a lower resolution in windowed mode may drastically increase your performance

That’s for sure. When recording at windowed 720p my settings can get increased to high compared to full screen medium.

First off, getting a 1920×1080 Monitor will make it look nicer already.
Second getting DDR3 6/8 GB RAM is a NEED
Getting a CPU with at LEAST 4 cores and at min 3.0ghz speed will help.
a 7k Radeon or R9 series GPU will help boost FPS as well. or the equvilent to Nvidia.

Overall I’d just get a new PC.
because with new ram and CPU with a OLD pc would mean a new motherboard, new gpu and cpu will need new PSU. higher tech gets hotter and will need new fans.

This is in view of running gw2 at max 1080p resolution.
