I have salvage kits, but don’t know how to use them. Can someone help me on this?

Double click kit then click item to be salvaged.

I have done this, but I don’t see anything happening. Are they only good on certain items?

Yes. Not all gear can be salvaged. Rewards from leveling for example I think are not salvageable.

Once you double click the kit any item that cannot be salvaged will be highlighted in red. Items purchased with karma and badges of honor are two examples, and I believe leveling/personal story rewards may be another one.

Also, just don’t use any salvage kit on any item. Cheap ones are enough for whites and blues (greens better go to the vendor), but for yellows, you’ll want a yellow salvage kit. Ideally, you also have a Black Lion salvage kit for exotics with expensive runes and sigils, but those are from the gem store and/or Black Lion chests and you might not have any of those handy.
