Salvaging - Insignias & Inscriptions
As far as I know you have a chance of salvaging insignias and inscriptions when the item has a non-craftable stat combo – ie. an item with Soldier’s or Magi’s stats may salvage in their respective insignia/inscription depending on whether it’s a weapon or armor piece, while, say, a Berserker’s or Cleric’s item will not, because those inscriptions/insignias can be crafted where the former can not.
Name and presence of rune/sigil has no influence. I think the level does not, but I am not 100% sure of that.
Okay, thanks.
Can anyone confirm if you can get insignias from exotics lvl 80 please? <3
I confirm. I get them all the time from various lvl 80 exotic dungeon armor bought with tokens.
Tarnished Coast
Err my brain went numb on that one, I meant insignias from exotics lower than lvl80 haha
Anyone?

This is basically it, although there is one exception to the rule: you can not salvage inscriptions/insignias from crafted items. If you buy items from the trading post for salvaging, make sure that the item is one looted by another player, not one already crafted.
In order to be able to salvage inscriptions/insignias, the item must meet the following criteria:
1. It MUST be Exotic. Rares or lower quality items will never drop inscriptions/insignia.
2. The item in question must be of a stat type whose inscription/insignia that can’t be crafted normally. This includes the following:
- Soldier
- Cavalier
- Shaman
- Rabid
- Dire
- Magi
3. The item you’re salvaging from must not, itself, be a crafted item. For example, if you got a Dire Ceremonial Dagger as a drop, you have a chance (my experience says it’s about 50%) to get back the inscription if you salvage it. However, if you bought a Dire Pearl Dagger (which some other player crafted using a salvaged inscription) and then tried to re-salvage the inscription from it, you have a 0% chance of success.
AC — Soldiers (pow tough vit), Magi (heal prec vit)
CM — Rabid (cond prec tough), Shaman (vit cond heal)
TA — Rabid (cond prec tough), Magi (heal prec vit)
SE — Soldiers (pow tough vit)
CoF — Nothing
HotW — Soldiers (pow tough vit)
CoE — Dire (cond tough vit)
Arah — Rabid (cond prec tough)
I use this list for dungeonarmor/weapons
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.

While this is true and a good tip, HOW do you tell if it was crafted or dropped?

The only crafted (as in at the crafting station) exotic weapons that would have those stats ( Rabid, Dire, Magi’s, Soldier’s, Cavalier’s, and Shaman’s) and not be able to return an inscription are the Pearl weapons, I believe.
As for armor, the exotic crafted sets also have specific looks and names and should be generally easy to avoid.
Ok. Don’t buy LVL 80 Pearls for that purpose….makes sense.
Per your statement, I don’t think Pearls can drop (I’ve never gotten one that I’m aware of), so that should be fairly simple rule of thumb.

Yup! But they can be “dropped” from the forge sometimes. Otherwise, they’re craft/TP only.

- Inscription/Insignia with MSK has 42.55% chance
- Inscription/Insignia with BLSK has 60.88% chance.
- Inscriptions can drop from exotic weapons with the stats of Soldier (Ptv), Rabid (Cprt), Dire (Ctv), Cavalier (Tpf), Sentinel (Vpt), Shaman (Vch), or Magi (Hpv). This includes most named exotics. They do not drop from crafted items (Pearl, Quaggan), or from any of these: Guild Defender, King’s Remembrance, Poyaqui’s Noggin, Occultist Flame, Scepter of the Highborn, Defiant Blaze, Faithful, Monsoon. All dungeon tokens except CoF have exotics that can be salvaged to get inscriptions.
