Satellite Internet?
Satellite Internet isn’t really going to do it. Because of how it works, your latency will be sky high pretty much no matter what.

If you can’t get at least DSL you are going to have problems. From experience satellite won’t work well at all. Sometimes in my barracks the Wifi gets bogged down and I have to use my Cell phones 4GLite to play instead.
It works and generally I use about .01Gigs per hour of play. So a 20 gig would more then cover your needs for GW, aside from the whole “to laggy to play thing”
My research a while ago had satellite speeds similar to old 56k modems, at least for uploads.
A phone plan if you can get unlimited or a really high cap would be better if nothing else would be available yeah. Just gotta be careful going over the limit as GW2 can drop some large updates in the upcoming months.
Checking with neighbors if you can use their wifi or downloading big updates at work/school/free wifi at a coffee shop etc could help.
Maybe give this a try? http://www.h2owirelessnow.com/mainControl.php?page=coverage
I haven’t used that specific service but I am currently using something similar. Mostly fine with some occasional hiccups. I even play on the EU from the US. Seems to cover most of NY except in the Adirondack Mountains.
I used to be on WildBlue many years ago when I played WoW. I don’t think you will have an issue with data consumption (exception of large patches), but latency will kill you especially since GW2 is a bit more “twitch” versus other MMOs.
Looking at packages these days, it looks like they have improved and may have latency down to around 600ms, this is massively improved over what I had to play with (1800ms).
I ended up just switching over to Verizon Wireless. Increased my data plan on my phone and just play off the hotspot. Prices are outrageous, but there are no other options.
Hey i see this is a month old but just so you know i play on satellite internet half the time and it does have lag. i hover around 670 ping on average wile this takes getting use to you can still play it if your ok adjusting to the ping. it is not like normal lag where crap happens and your not sure what is going on, you can see the whole time and every thing is clear and up to speed except you. your spells will take a moment to activate. pve works great after you adjust and pvp seems to work well for me so far. i am not yet up to a 50% win rate but i am still learning the game. the big thing with pvp is that it will force you to be a strategist because you can’t beet someone based off from better mechanics since 600 ping kinda kills mechanics at that point. down side is you will lose to a person who is as strategic as you because they don’t have the lag. But hey what is a game with out a challenge or two chucked in. just pretend you like playing with the difficulty set a bit higher and bam you got a great game.
P.S. i am new to the game and sorry for any grammar and spelling mistakes i only seem to write post way late at night, at which point i don’t seem to check every thing well.
